  • Patent number: 8156593
Abstract: A method for making a Goodyear shoe includes the steps of: stitching together a lower edge of an upper and a peripheral edge of an inner midsole so as to form a coupled section; placing a last into an assembly resulting from the previous step; placing an outer welt on an outer surface of the upper at the coupled section and stitching the outer welt, the upper, and the inner midsole together; placing a filler on a bottom surface of the inner midsole; bonding a thin sole to a bottom portion of an assembly that results from the previous step and stitching the thin sole to the outer welt; and bonding an outsole and performing edge-abrading. The method prevents a toe cap portion of the upper from tearing and creasing and dispenses with such steps as gripping the upper, driving wire nails, and trimming the lower edge of the upper.

  • Patent number: 8056260
Abstract: A Goodyear waterproof shoe includes a main body stitched with a shoe collar and having a bottom portion coupled sequentially with a filler plate, a thin sole, and an outsole. An outer welt is stitched to a lower outer rim of the main body by a thread and stitched to the thin sole by another thread. The Goodyear waterproof shoe is characterized in that the main body is an integrally formed waterproof body having an upper opening and includes a shoe-shaped portion, the bottom portion, and a welt portion on a lower side of the bottom portion. The thread for stitching the outer welt to the main body passes through the welt portion but not the bottom portion of the main body so as to enhance waterproofness. The main body is integrally formed from the upper, midsole, and inner welt of a conventional Goodyear shoe to reduce production procedures and assembly time.

  • Publication number: 20100236100
Abstract: A composite shoe includes detachably coupled first and second shoe bodies. The second shoe body, which is a close-toed and close-heeled shoe, is received in and coupled with the first shoe body, which is a close-toed and open-heeled shoe, so that an outer bottom surface of a sole of the second shoe body lies on a surface of an insole of the first shoe body while the second shoe body has a close-toed portion inserted in a close-toed portion of the first shoe body and a close-heeled portion disposed at an open-heeled portion of the first shoe body. The close-heeled portion of the second shoe body is provided with at least one coupling element to be coupled with at least one coupling element at the open-heeled portion of the first shoe body. The composite shoe serves interchangeably as a formal outdoor shoe, a casual outdoor shoe, or an indoor slipper.

  • Publication number: 20100180466
Abstract: A stitch-down shoe and a method for making the same are provided. The method includes: imparting a toe cap shape to an upper; reserving a width along a lower edge of the upper as a folded-out edge according to the toe cap shape; fixedly attaching a welt along a periphery of a midsole sheet so as to form a midsole; bonding and stitching the folded-out edge flush to a periphery of the midsole so as to form a shoe body; steaming the shoe body until softened, and putting a last into the shoe body for shaping; removing the last; bonding an outsole; performing fine edge-abrading; and finishing. The midsole sheet is made of a non-woven material and the welt, of leather. The width of the folded-out edge is precisely controllable. The resultant stitch-down shoe is economical in material, keeps the upper smooth, has nice curvature, and feels soft when worn.

  • Publication number: 20030226282
Abstract: A footwear having an outsole coupled to an upper by a preformed closed-loop welt. The welt is a formed ring-shaped structure having no ends or breaks. The welt is sized and shaped to receive the upper-outsole junction. The welt provides an intermediary structure for coupling the outsole to the upper. The welt includes a sidewall that facilitates stitching and gluing an upper portion of the sidewall to the upper.
