    Abstract: A telematics controller is programmed identify a location of the vehicle responsive to failure of a vehicle-originated data call to initiate packet-switched communications, and send, to a service delivery network configured to provide data services to the vehicle, a message specifying that circuit-switched communication but not packet-switched communication is available to the vehicle. A message is received, over a wide-area network from a vehicle, in response to a failed initiation of a packed-switched data connection over the wide-area network, indicating that packet-switched communications are unavailable at a current location of the vehicle. Failure zones are updated to indicate that the current location of the vehicle is a network location supporting circuit-switched communication but not packet-switched communication over the wide-area network.

    Abstract: A suppression method of high-frequency resonance for VSC-HVDC (Voltage Source Converter-High Voltage Direct Current Transmission) system based on nonlinear filter in voltage feed-forward control. It includes that the nonlinear filter is used for the voltage feed-forward link in the current inner loop control. The specific method is to extract each sequence component of the AC (Alternating Current) voltage, calculate the average value of the sequence component at N sample points, compare the current average value with the output result of nonlinear filter in the previous period, and output the result of nonlinear filter in the current period. After corrected, the result is a fixed value varying according to gradient which acts on the voltage feed-forward link of the inner loop.

An example integrated optical coherence tomography (OCT) and scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) apparatus includes an OCT subsystem to acquire baseline OCT and OCT angiography (OCTA) volumes of a subject without dye before occlusion and subsequent OCT and OCTA volumes of the subject with dye after occlusion. The example apparatus includes an SLO subsystem including a laser controlled to adjust a laser to form a vascular occlusion at a location on a target vessel of the subject. The example apparatus includes a processor to process the OCT and OCTA volumes and feedback from the OCT subsystem and the SLO subsystem to determine a change in three-dimensional vasculature from before the vascular occlusion to after the vascular occlusion.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for generating and utilizing improved initialization vectors (IVs) when performing encryption and authentication in wireless communications. In some scenarios, a wireless communication device may generate one or more pseudorandom multi-bit values, e.g., using a respective plurality of key derivation functions (KDFs). A first portion of each value may be used as a respective key for encryption or authentication of traffic on the user plane or the control plane. A second portion of each value may be used as a nonce value in a respective IV for use with a respective key for encryption or authentication of traffic on the user plane or the control plane. In some scenarios, the nonce values may instead be generated as part of an additional pseudorandom value (e.g., by executing an additional KDF), from which all of the IVs may be drawn.

    Abstract: Novel and advantageous insulator discs with embedded resonator coils are provided. By linking the insulator discs in a series using an appropriate mechanical mechanism, the insulator discs form an insulator or insulator string for a high power transmission line system. The resonator coils embedded inside the insulator discs therefore form a series of relay resonators that can be used for wireless power transfer through the principle of near-field magnetic coupling and resonance. The insulator string can provide the simultaneous functions of voltage insulation and wireless power transfer over the length of the string. Applications include, but not limited to, wireless power transfer in a high-voltage environment such as that encountered in high-voltage power transmission line systems.

A complete hard decision value is generated using the incremental hard decision value. The LLR amplitude value and complete hard decision value corresponding to the identified faulty symbol are selectively provided to a decoder and the decoder uses these values to decode the codeword.

    Abstract: Techniques for identity-based message integrity protection and verification between a user equipment (UE) and a wireless network entity, include use of signatures derived from identity-based keys. To protect against attacks from rogue network entities before activation of a security context with a network entity, the UE verifies integrity of messages by checking a signature using an identity-based public key PKID derived by the UE based on (i) an identity value (ID) of the network entity and (ii) a separate public key PKPKG of a private key generator (PKG) server. The network entity generates signatures for messages using an identity-based private key SKID obtained from the PKG server, which generates the identity-based private key SKID using (i) the ID value of the network entity and (ii) a private key SKPKG that is known only by the PKG server and corresponds to the public key PKPKG.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for recommending new connections based on profile similarity and existing interconnections within a social network. One method includes an operation for detecting a request for new connections for a member of the social network, where the profile of the member includes values for certain attributes. Additionally, the method includes operations for identifying members that have at least one equal attribute to the attributes of the member, and for calculating a connection score for each identified member based on the respective values of the identified members attributes. Members are selected from the identified members based on the connection scores, and a ranking score for each selected member is obtained utilizing a machine learning algorithm that utilizes similarity analysis of the attributes to calculate the ranking score. The selected members are presented to the member as the possible new connections based on the ranking scores.
