  • Publication number: 20220062858
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermo-responsive hydrogel composite (TRHC) desiccants having high adsorption capacities, fast adsorption/desorption rates, and low regeneration temperatures (Treg) compared to traditional desiccants. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, TRHC desiccants may be synthesized by freeze drying. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the porous structures resulting from freeze drying copolymers of thermo-responsive polymers and/or hygroscopic agents may be combined with hygroscopic inorganic salts, resulting in TRHC desiccants having superior performance properties.

  • Publication number: 20210380861
Abstract: Among other things, the present disclosure relates to phase change material (PCM) composites composed of an PCM mixed with a nucleating agent contained within the pores of a graphite matrix and/or a hydrogel. The process to create these PCM composites includes coating the surface of graphite with a surfactant, compressing the graphite to form a matrix, then filling the graphite matrix with the PCM.

  • Patent number: 11163075
Abstract: An x-ray spectrometer includes a radiation path and a plurality of layer groups oriented along the radiation path. The radiation path extends from a start point to an end point. The layer groups each include an attenuation layer, a scintillation layer, and a light diffuser layer. The light diffuser layer directs light emitted from the scintillation layer away from the radiation path. A linear diode array is positioned to measure the redirected light and generate a signal representing the penetration characteristics of the beam of radiation throughout the layer groups.

  • Publication number: 20210043854
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composition that includes a scaffold having an internal space and a mixture positioned within the space, where the mixture includes a first phase having a metal halide perovskite and a second phase including at least one of a perovskite precursor and/or a switching molecule, the composition is capable of reversibly switching between a first state having at least one of a first transparency and/or a first color and a second state having at least one of a second transparency and/or a second color.

  • Publication number: 20200368199
Abstract: A composition containing SUMO inhibitor, and belongs to the technical field of medicine includes FXR agonist and SUMO inhibitor. In activated hepatic stellate cells, the FXR agonist does not have an effect in inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells. After the FXR agonist and the SUMO inhibitor are compounded according to the present invention, the activation of hepatic stellate cells can also be inhibited for those cells under activated state. Of note, the hepatic stellate cells of an individual with hepatic fibrosis symptoms have been in an activated state, therefore a good anti-fibrotic effect cannot be achieved by using the FXR agonist alone.

  • Patent number: 10714227
Abstract: A shutter for controlling radiation exposure includes a rotatable member. The rotatable member is rotatable between an open position and a closed position. The rotatable member includes a passageway, wherein the passageway is positioned to receive radiation in the open position and is not positioned to receive radiation in the closed position. In the closed position, the rotatable member may substantially block or absorb the radiation. The passageway may collimate the radiation into a beam of radiation. The rotatable member may include a plurality of passageways positioned to receive radiation in the open position. The rotatable member may be rotatable between a plurality of open positions, each open position corresponding to at least one passageway. The open positions may align the source of radiation with different passageways in the rotatable member to form a different beam shape, a different number of beams, a different beam direction, or combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 10151716
Abstract: An internal imaging system has a radiation source and a plurality of detectors positioned to receive portions of the plurality of collimated beams that have been attenuated by interaction with the target. The radiation source is configured to irradiate a target with a plurality of collimated beams of radiation. Two of the plurality of collimated beams of radiation may have different beam shapes. Another internal imaging system includes a radiation source configured to irradiate a target with at least one collimated beam of radiation and at least one detector. A planar rotating collimator is positioned adjacent to the radiation source and is configured to form the at least one collimated beam. The at least one detector is positioned to receive attenuated portions of the at least one collimated beam. The radiation source may be or include a neutron source. The detectors may be or include a plurality of neutron converters.
