  • Patent number: 6433615
Abstract: A sensor 1 produces an output that changes linearly with absolute temperature. In response to the output, a reference voltage generator 13 produces reference voltages Vhigh and Vlow that change linearly with absolute temperature. A Schmidt trigger 14 compares the output signal from a sensor signal amplifier 12 with the reference voltages for performing on-off output. A sensor signal amplifier 12 with a temperature-independent amplification factor amplifies the output signal from the sensor 1 while performing offset compensation. A sensor signal processing circuit 2 is formed out of thin-film silicon disposed on an insulating substrate. The output from the sensor 1 undergoes accurate temperature compensation over a wide temperature range from a low temperature to a high temperature, achieving a reliable operation with accuracy at high temperature.

  • Publication number: 20010048646
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a disc-shaped recording medium includes an optical head, a disc rotationally driving unit, a transfer unit, and an eccentricity amount measuring unit. The eccentricity amount measuring unit includes a controller and an error signal generator which generates an error signal exhibiting the amount of relative displacement of a light beam irradiated from the optical head onto the disc-shaped recording medium with respect to a track on such medium. The controller detects the peak and trough values of the error signal supplied from the error signal generator and compares a difference signal exhibiting a difference between the detected peak and trough values and a reference value to calculate the amount of eccentricity of the disc-shaped recording medium based on a comparison output signal.

  • Patent number: 6313812
Abstract: When input equipment is instructed by a remote control unit on the basis of a display of a monitor, a data signal is transmitted from a microcomputer of an AV amplifier to a microcomputer of a CD changer. When the signal is received by a microcomputer of the CD changer, display data is formed in the microcomputer of the CD changer on the basis of data in a memory and is outputted. In the AV amplifier, a switch is switched to the CD changer side. A cursor is formed by the microcomputer of the AV amplifer, the cursor and display data from the CD changer are synthesized by an image synthesizing circuit and displayed on the monitor. When an instruction is generated by the remote control unit on the basis of the display on the monitor, position coordinates of the cursor on the picture plane are generated from the microcomputer of the A/V amplifier to the microcomputer of the CD changer. On the basis of the display data and the position coordinates, the CD changer is controlled by its microcomputer.

  • Patent number: 5959951
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus has a rotatable housing unit containing a large number of discs arranged in the erect or upright position. The housing unit is arranged on a pivot and the discs are held in the upright or erected positions in the housing unit radially around the pivot. A rotational drive unit rotates the housing unit in response to a signal from an input unit and a detector detects the amount of housing unit rotation. A disc reproducing and/or recording unit is arranged in the plane perpendicular to a plane formed by connecting apices of the number of discs in the housing unit, so that a desired one of the discs arranged as a horizontal toroid can be taken out in a direction perpendicular to the flat surfaces of the disc, that is, perpendicular to the disc in-plane direction.

  • Patent number: 5793726
Abstract: A video CD has a program area having plural recorded programs and a managemental area in which alternatives for selecting the programs in reproducing the programs are recorded as the managemental information. In the managemental area is pre-recorded an identifier for determining the program reproducing mode as the managemental information. An optical head 34 reproduces the programs from the program area of the video CD, while reproducing the managemental information from the managemental area. A system controller 53 judges the reproducing mode based upon the identifier included in the managemental information and, based upon the judged reproducing mode, selects an alternative based upon the random number if the reproducing mode is the random reproduction mode. The system controller 53 controls the optical head 34 and the servo circuit 37 for reproducing the program associated with the alternative.
