  • Patent number: 7150899
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for forming a coating film on a plastic substrate which comprises: (1) coating the plastic substrate with an aqueous white primer (A) having a water content of 15 to 48 wt. % to form a coating film having an L* value of 80 or more, (2) heating the coating film of the primer (A) to adjust the water content of the film to 1 to 10 wt. % and the surface electrical resistivity value of the film to less than 109 ?/square, (3) electrostatically coating the coating film of the primer (A) with a thermosetting clear colored coating composition (B), (4) electrostatically coating the uncured coating film of the coating composition (B) with a thermosetting clear coating composition (C), and (5) baking the three-layer coating film to obtain a cured multilayer coating film having an N value of 8.5 or more.

  • Patent number: 6743848
Abstract: This invention provides a pigment dispersing resin having a weight-average molecular weight within a range of 1,000-150,000, which is obtained by copolymerizing a monomeric mixture comprising (a) a macromonomer obtained by polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a metal complex as a catalytic chain transfer agent, or an addition cleavage-type chain transfer agent and if necessary a radical polymerization initiator, which macromonomer having a resin acid value less than 50 mgKOH/g, and (b) at least one copolymerizable unsaturated monomer, wherein at least one monomer among the ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s) constituting said macromonomer (a) and the copolymerizable unsaturated monomer(s) (b) has a functional group selected from substituted or unsubstituted amino group, quaternary ammonium salt group, sulfonic group, phosphoric group and carboxyl group.

  • Patent number: 4843670
Abstract: This invention provides a method and an apparatus for direct formation of a stripe pattern on a textile substrate such as sliver. The object of the invention is to dispense with a gill which would interfere with a high-speed feed of said textile substrate and thereby improve the efficiency of coloration. In accordance with this invention, a color supply hollow drum (2) and a color suction hollow drum (3) are vetically juxtaposed and a continuous length of fibrous material is continuously fed between said two drums (2), (3) by rotation thereof. As the substrate material is thus fed, a color composition is supplied from color supply grooves (8) of the color supply hollow drum (2) while it is drawn by a suction force acting in color suction grooves (13) of the color suction hollow drum (3) to cause the color composition to strike through the fibrous substrate material to thereby form color stripes of substantially the same configuration as that of the above-mentioned grooves on the fibrous substrate material.
