  • Publication number: 20040183373
Abstract: A brake system is provided with a brake pressure control device which is light in weight and low in cost and which is capable of selectively performing a brake assist control and a slope starting control. An electromagnetic pressure control valve for generating a control differential pressure is connected between a master cylinder and wheel cylinders, and the control differential pressure is set to an assist increase pressure under the brake assist control. A brake fluid supply device such as a motor-driven pump is operated in the brake pressure control device to supply brake fluid between the electromagnetic pressure control valve and each of the wheel cylinders. The fluid pressure applied to the wheel cylinders is increased by the assist increase pressure than the fluid pressure delivered from the master cylinder, so that a large brake force is applied to road wheels. On the other hand, the brake fluid supply device is also operated under the brake assist control.

  • Publication number: 20020163247
Abstract: A characteristic changing device is adopted in the inventive brake control system for the vehicle. The characteristic changing device sets a differential pressure between a first brake hydraulic pressure which is applied to wheel cylinders and a second brake hydraulic pressure which is generated by a master cylinder so that the first brake hydraulic pressure is higher than the second hydraulic pressure when the second brake hydraulic pressure is reduced. Due to the differential pressure set as described above, the first brake hydraulic pressure enough to exhibit effective braking force is kept even if the second brake hydraulic pressure is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6474751
Abstract: In the brake apparatus having a rotary pump, outer and inner rotors of the rotary pump are made of bearing steel and inner and outer teeth portions of the rotors are respectively processed by nitriding hardening or carbo-nitriding hardening. Accordingly, outer circumferential region of the outer teeth portion and inner circumferential region of the inner teeth are constituted by nitrided layer containing 15 to 40 percents retained austenite so that teeth faces of the outer and inner teeth portions in mesh may have higher wear resistance.

  • Patent number: 6158824
Abstract: An operated quantity of a brake pedal is detected based on a signal from a stroke sensor. A starting criterion to start brake assisting is determined with respect to an operational speed of the brake pedal in response to the operated quantity of the brake pedal. An operated-quantity change is calculated by differentiating the operated quantity of the brake pedal. It is determined whether the operated-quantity change exceeds the starting criterion. If the operated-quantity change exceeds the starting criterion, brake assisting is started by driving a pump to increase wheel cylinder pressure.

  • Patent number: 6142581
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit has a rotary type pump comprising a rotor rotating with a driving shaft and a casing which holds the rotor and the driving shaft. The casing further comprises an inlet port through which fluid is introduced to spaces formed by the rotor, an outlet port through which fluid is discharged from the spaces, and a hydraulic path for leading fluid from clearance around said driving shaft to the outside of the casing. A reservoir is provided to store fluid coming through the hydraulic path. A return conduit is disposed between the reservoir and an upstream side conduit connected to the inlet port in order that fluid stored in the reservoir is returned to the upstream side conduit. In the return conduit, a check valve is disposed to prevent the reverse flow of fluid from the upstream side conduit to the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 6024420
Abstract: A brake control apparatus for a vehicle employs a pressure-amplifying device which reduces a quantity of brake fluid generating a first brake-fluid pressure in a first conduit connected to a master cylinder, and increases second brake-fluid pressure in a second conduit, applied to a wheel cylinder simultaneously with the reduction in brake-fluid quantity in the first conduit. As a result, increase in the first brake-fluid pressure is suppressed even when a driver depress a brake pedal and load to generate the first brake-fluid pressure is alleviated. Additionally, the pressure-amplifying device applies the increased second brake-fluid pressure to the wheel cylinder. Therefore, it is possible to ensure sufficient braking force.

  • Patent number: 6019438
Abstract: A vehicle braking system can, for example when the performance of a booster has deteriorated, reduce a brake pedal depressing force required to obtain a sufficient braking force and thereby lighten the burden on the driver. A booster and a master cylinder generate a brake fluid pressure in correspondence with an operation of a brake pedal. Wheel cylinders connected to the master cylinder generate wheel braking forces in wheels of the vehicle. It is determined if a vehicle braking state corresponds to a state of operation of the brake pedal, and when it is determined that the vehicle braking state does not correspond to the brake pedal operation brake fluid pressure in the wheel cylinders is increased with a pump. In this way, it is possible to obtain a predetermined braking force corresponding to the brake pedal operation at all times.

  • Patent number: 5967628
Abstract: When a vacuum booster fails, an pressure amplifying mechanism increases a wheel brake pressure. After that, even when it is detected that the vehicle is brought into a stopped state, the state in which an increased brake fluid pressure is applied to wheel cylinders is held. If a condition for terminating control to maintain a stationary state of the vehicle is satisfied, that is, if a predetermined time period has elapsed since when the vehicle stops, the operation of the pressure amplifying mechanism is stopped to reduce the wheel cylinder pressure.

  • Patent number: 5931545
Abstract: A braking force increasing device composed of a pump and a control valve continuously increases brake-fluid pressure of wheel cylinders when a brake pedal is operated by a driver and a variation of driver's operation of the brake pedal is within a predetermined range. As a result, even when the driver keeps the brake pedal depression at a certain stroke substantially, braking force can be gradually increased. Therefore, it is not necessary for the driver to depress down the brake pedal more strongly to cause braking force to be applied to the vehicle.
