  • Patent number: 10106198
Abstract: A vehicle upper body structure includes a roof panel, a roof arch that extends across the roof panel in a vehicle width direction and that is joined to a lower surface of the roof panel, and a roof antenna disposed on an upper surface of the roof panel. The roof arch includes a first roof arch and a second roof arch disposed in front of the first roof arch. An antenna bracket that allows the roof antenna to be mounted thereon extends frontward from a midpoint of the first roof arch in the vehicle width direction or a vicinity of the midpoint. The antenna bracket supports the roof panel, and the second roof arch is disposed so that as viewed from above the vehicle body, at least part of the second roof arch extends between right and left rear pillars.

  • Publication number: 20050019137
Abstract: The die 18 of the self-piercing rivet fastening device is equipped with a center pin 25 for receiving the hollow section of the legs 5 on the self-piercing rivet 1 and a die main body 27 having a cavity 26 for guiding the distortion of the tip of the legs on the self-piercing rivet outward radially on the outer periphery of the center pin 25. The center pin 25 and the die main body 27 are supported so as to move relatively freely in the axial direction of the center pin 25 towards the punch 14. It also has a plate spring 41 allowing the center pin 25 to move relative to the die main body 27 so the center pin 25 comes into contact with the die end surface of the fastened member 3 on the receiving end when the self-piercing rivet 1 under pressure from the punch 14 is driven into the fastened members 2, 3 and the tip of the legs begins to pierce the fastened member 3 on the receiving end. This reduces or eliminates the constraints on the fastened members in the rivet-driving direction.

  • Patent number: 6547281
Abstract: A suspension support member is mounted on a vehicle body to support a coil spring and a shock absorber forming a suspension, and is formed of a cast article including a spring seat for the coil spring and a pivot support section for the shock absorber, which are disposed independently from each other. Thus, the suspension support member is provided which ensures that the supported positions of the coil spring and the shock absorber in the suspension can be determined simply with a good accuracy, and which has a high rigidity and moreover, enables the generation of noises to be inhibited remarkably.

  • Patent number: 5765906
Abstract: In a space frame type vehicle body structure, a floor member has a side sill inner half securely attached along each side edge thereof, and a side frame has a side sill outer half securely attached along a lower edge thereof, and these two halves are provided with mutually cooperating snap fit arrangement. Because the floor member and the side frame are individually provided with a sufficient rigidity, and they can be temporarily secured each other simply by pushing them against each other, they can be welded together with a high dimensional precision without requiring any massive or complex clamping fixture.
