  • Publication number: 20090250560
Abstract: Utility tray for accommodating cables, pipelines, and other utilities comprises a plurality of tray modules. The tray module has a hanging strip that attaches to the structural component of the concrete, such as welded studs and rebars. Concrete locking groove is provided to interlock the concrete wall, thus rigidity of attachment to the concrete is enhanced. A vertical locking protrusion and a vertical locking groove are provided to position and interlock tray modules vertically. A lateral locking fin and a offset notch are provided to interlock tray modules laterally. Tray modules can be made by extrusion method and roll-formed method. The tray modules are assembled laterally and vertically to form a utility tray of desired length and height. Besides accommodating utilities, the utility tray can serve as the construction mold during concrete pouring.

  • Patent number: 6231095
Abstract: A channeled energy absorption unit for a vehicle bumper impact system to absorb impact energy and forestall or minimize damage to vehicle frame rails under impact. The basic embodiment is a tube with one end flared and welded at a hole in one end plate or directly to the vehicle frame rail. When loaded axially, the tube splits, peels and is inverted to absorb impact in a generally square wave energy absorption. Preferred channels in the tube stabilize the failure mode during this process to assure a predetermined energy absorption characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6179355
Abstract: A bumper assembly for an automotive vehicle has a pair of multi-stage crush caps attached to longitudinal ends of generally parallel vehicle body support members, each of the crush caps having an outward facing impact surface. A bumper member is attached to the body support members so as to extend generally laterally therebetween encasing the pair of crush caps and has an upper crush groove, a lower crush groove, and an outward facing crush groove, all extending laterally along the bumper member. The outward facing crush groove has an inner crush initiating surface spaced a predetermined distance from and substantially parallel to the impact surface of each of the crush caps. A bumper fascia is mounted over the bumper member to provide an aesthetic exterior appearance.

  • Patent number: 6029765
Abstract: A powertrain (12) including a transmission (16) and an engine (18) is supported on a motor vehicle structure (10) by a plurality of powertrain mounting brackets. At least one of the powertrain mounts (22) includes a plate member (40) having therein an elongated aperture 42 with first and second protuberances (70, 72) for providing releasable retention of the powertrain mounting bracket (20) and powertrain (12) relative to a structural member (22) of the motor vehicle structure (10). This powertrain mounting bracket (22) is useful for allowing the powertrain to shift forward a predetermined amount when subjected to a substantial inertial force.

  • Patent number: 5755484
Abstract: A vehicle door has a trim panel, an attached inner door panel, and an attached outer door panel defining a cavity therein, and an energy management device within the cavity. The device has two or more elongated deflectable beam members, each being attached to the vehicle door within the door cavity. One or more clips engage the beam members, and are adjustably positionable along the longitudinal axes of the beam members, so as to provide a predetermined substantially planar deflection upon imposition of a lateral displacement. One or more tab members are disposed on the inboard surface of the clip, so as to initiate deployment of the inner trim panel prior to compression of the vehicle door upon imposition of a lateral displacement.
