Patent number: 7445525Abstract: A battery terminal (10, 10A) has an arcuate fitting (20) fittable on a battery post (80). Fasteners (40) extend out from opposite edges of an opening of the fitting (20) and face each other. A shaft (91) of a bolt (90) is inserted through holes (41) in the fasteners (40) and is tightened with a nut (95). Thus, the fasteners (40) approach each other and the fitting (20) is deformed inwardly for retention on the battery post (80). The head (92) of the bolt (90) contacts the outer circumferential surface of the fitting (20) so that the bolt (90) cannot turn as the nut (95) is turned. The fasteners (40) are sufficiently close to the fitting (20) for the head (92) of the bolt (90) to contact the outer circumferential surface of the fitting (20). Therefore the distance between the fasteners (40) and the fitting (20) is shortened.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2007Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Shuji Kosuge

Patent number: 6939167Abstract: A battery-connecting member (1) has a base (2) for accommodating a fuse (10) and a casing (3) for accommodating the base (2). The base (2) includes a battery terminal (7), busbars (8A, 8B) and the fuse (10). A box-accommodating portion (15) is provided in the casing (3) for accommodating the fuse (10) and is provided with an operation space closing portion (17) at a side toward which the fuse (10) is detached. Thus, the fuse (10) cannot be detached unless the battery-connecting member (1) is detached from a battery (5) and the casing (3) and the base (2) are separated.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2003Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Shuji Kosuge

Patent number: 6512177Abstract: A protection cover includes a lid (32) and a cover (37) which have interfering portions (36, 41), which do not interfere with each other while the cover (37) is being displaced from an exposing position to a protecting position, if the lid (32) is mounted properly in a closing position with respect to the accommodating portion (22). However the interfering portions (36, 41) interfere to prevent the cover (37) from reaching the proper closing position when the lid (32) is mounted improperly. Thus, whether the lid (32) is mounted properly on the accommodating portion (22) can be detected based on whether or not the interfering portions (36, 41) interfere with each other while the cover (37) is being displaced to the pretecting position.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2001Date of Patent: January 28, 2003Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Shuji Kosuge

Patent number: 6426465Abstract: A protective cover has a body in which an electrical wire connection part of a battery connection terminal is installed and a cover piece covering a clamping part of the terminal and hinged to the body. The cover piece contains a pair of elastically deformable locking arms extending vertically. The body has receiving portions locking lip portions of the locking arms thereto when the cover piece is closed. The locking arms are protected inside the cover piece and are sufficiently flexible to reduce risk of breakage on repeated opening and closing.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2000Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Shuji Kosuge

Patent number: 6376771Abstract: A protective cover that fits with battery terminals of different sizes includes a main body 11 having a side wall 12A capable of being opened or closed via hinges 13, a battery terminal being inserted from the side when the side wall 12A is in an open state. A position fixing member 14 that houses a clamping ring of a clamping member is made from a pair of surrounding walls 26A and 26B which protrude outwards from the side wall 12A and a side wall 12B. Resilient movable members 40A and 40B are formed out of the surrounding walls 26A and 26B, these members 40A and 40B protruding inwards. The clamping ring of the smaller battery terminal is supported by arc shaped receiving faces 41A and 41B of the resilient movable members 40A and 40B, and the clamping ring of the larger battery terminal is supported by the receiving faces 41A and 41B of the resilient movable members 40A and 40B which have been bent outwards, and by receiving faces 27A and 27B of the surrounding walls 26A and 26B.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Shuji Kosuge

Patent number: 5545055Abstract: Three male terminals are inserted respectively into terminal receiving chambers in a male connector housing and a bus bar is inserted into the terminal receiving chambers through a through-hole. As a result, the insertion side portion of the bus bar is press-fitted in reception grooves in bus bar press-fitting portions disposed beneath the through-hole. Thus, the insertion side portion of the bus bar is received in the reception grooves in the three male terminals, and is mechanically fixed to and electrically connected to the male terminals, so that three insulated wires connected respectively to the male terminals are connected together only at the male connector housing.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1994Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventors: Seiji Tanaka, Shuji Kosuge, Kazuhiko Fuse
