  • Publication number: 20230420859
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for an antenna system capable of optimal broadside radiation. In certain embodiments, a system may include a flexible and thin polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate stack having a predetermined length. The system may include a printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication of one or more Leaky-Wave Antenna (LWA) structures on the PET substrate stack. The one or more LWA structures have a bent-stub folded LWA configuration have longitudinal asymmetry and transverse asymmetry for a broadside frequency. The bent-stub folded LWA configuration comprises a plurality of conductively unit cells having a unit cell period. Each unit cell of the plurality of conductively unit cells has a folded main feed-line and a bent stub pair with two angularly bent radiating stubs. Embodiments are structured to increase radiation per-unit length and suppress open stopband (OSB).

  • Publication number: 20230352834
Abstract: Systems and methods relating to independent control of a reflected EM (electromagnetic) wave's phase and magnitude. A reflective unit cell with independently controllable parameters allows for control of the magnitude and phase of the reflected wave. In some implementations, the unit cell uses coupled resonators, with each resonator having independently controllable parameters. The controllable parameters may be controllable/adjustable on the fly (dynamic parameters) or they may be configured and fixed (static parameters). The unit cell with dynamic parameters may use a dipole ring resonator nested with a split ring resonator. The unit cell with static parameters may use a rectangular ring resonator that is non-coplanar with but is electromagnetically coupled to a slot resonator. For both types of unit cell, the parameters of the resonators determine the magnitude and phase of the reflected wave.

  • Patent number: 11581657
Abstract: A simple multi-directional, multi-port array antenna structure is disclosed that can be used for a variety of applications, including but not limited to direction finding (DF) and beam-forming applications in receive and transmit modes, respectively. The disclosed antenna structure offers unique functionalities in both receive and transmit modes. For DF applications in the receive mode, the back-end of the antenna structure features a power sensing mechanism to monitor the power received at all ports. In the transmit mode, the disclosed antenna structure is used for beamforming applications by providing individual port excitation and using antenna arrays.

  • Publication number: 20110248797
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tunable delay system and corresponding method for delaying a signal. The system includes an oscillator for providing a carrier. A first mixer modulates the signal with the carrier. The modulated signal is delayed in a metamaterial transmission line. Afterwards, a second mixer is used to separate the delayed signal from the carrier. The present invention also relates to using a metamaterial transmission line for delaying a modulated signal.
