Abstract: An electrical connector includes a first insulative housing and a second insulative housing. Each housing has two lugs formed on opposite ends thereof corresponding to each other. Each lug defines a recess having a support face formed therein. Two locking members bridge between the first and second housings and engage with the lugs thereby securing the housings together to form the connector. Each locking member has a base section and two retention sections formed on opposite ends thereof. The retention sections of the locking member are received in the corresponding recesses of the housings. Each retention section has a resilient barb engaging with the corresponding support face. • Patent number: 6086394
Abstract: An ejector mechanism for a connector comprises a receptacle defined in a top surface of a header of the connector and an elastic device received in the receptacle. An elastic ejection plate is adapted to force the elastic device to deform and store tension when an external card is manually inserted into the header of the connector in a first direction and exerts a force on the ejection plate along the first direction. A button device projects from the ejection plate. A retaining plate is fixed to the connector and defines a first hole and a second hole for respectively receiving the button device at different statuses. The button device is moved from the first hole to the second hole when the elastic ejection plate is pushed by the inserted card in the first direction. The button device receives a force from the elastic device and returns to the first hole when it is depressed downward below a retention region of the second hole.

  • Patent number: 6071134
Abstract: A card connector for engaging an inserted IC card includes an ejector mechanism. When a card is to be ejected from the connector, an external force is exerted on a front end of a push button to activate the ejector mechanism. When the ejector mechanism is not in use, the push button can be pivoted whereby the push button is received within a space defined in a computer enclosure which houses the connector. Thus, the push button will not protrude from the computer enclosure and will not become damaged by an external force.

  • Patent number: 6068510
Abstract: An electrical card connector comprises a header, a pair of mounting arms and a locking element. The header has front and rear surfaces for contacting with a circuit board and an electrical card respectively. A number of passageways are defined between the front and rear surface for receiving a number of terminals. A pair of mounting arms extends from opposite lateral ends of the header for being mounted to the circuit board by two locking elements. After assembly, the circuit board is positioned by a pair of projections formed on a bottom surface of the mounting arm. Thus, the height of the assembled circuit board and electrical card connected is reduced, and internal computer.

  • Patent number: 6065984
Abstract: A retractable mechanism for use with a push rod of a card cartridge connector comprises a first member adapted to be assembled to an end of a push rod, and a second member receiving the first member in a recess defined therein. Positioning means selectively positions the second member between a first positicn in which the length of the push rod is extended and a second position in which the length of the push rod is unchanged. The positioning means includes an elongate groove defined on an outer suiface of the first member. The groove forms a traverse portion having a notch offset from the groove. The second member defines a hole in which a guiding pin is inserted. The guiding pin projects into the groove when the first member is received in the recess of the second member.

  • Patent number: 6059588
Abstract: A card connector for engaging an inserted electrical card comprises a dielectric terminal housing, a metal card housing defining first and second shaft holes therein, and an ejector mechanism. The ejector mechanism consists of a push rod, an actuator having first and second pivots formed thereon, an ejection plate, and a spring. When a card is inserted into the card connector, the first pivot abuts against a first edge of the first shaft hole and the second pivot abuts against a first edge of the second shaft hole. To eject the card, a force is exerted on an exerting projection of the push rod. The actuator pivots about the first pivot, the second pivot abuts against a second edge of the second shaft hole, and the card is pushed outward. This action constitutes the first ejection stage which disengages the card from contacts of the card connector.

  • Patent number: 6042402
Abstract: A push button structure for a card ejector mechanism of a card connector mounted in a portable computer comprises a first section fixed to a push rod of the ejector mechanism and a second section linearly movable and pivotably connected to the first section wherein the second section can be movably retained at first, second, and third positions relative to the first section. At the first position, the second section protrudes from a housing of the computer a sufficient distance so that a push force can be easily exerted on the push button structure. At the second position, the second section is pivoted relative to the first section to be substantially flush with an outside of the housing so that the push button structure will not be susceptible to damage by an external force. At the third position, the second section is pushed to engage with the first section so that a push force can be exerted on the push rod to activate a card ejecting plate to eject a card inserted into the card connector.

  • Patent number: 6019633
Abstract: An electronic card connector adapted to be mounted to a circuit board for receiving and electrically connecting an electronic card to the circuit board, includes two insulative headers each having a plurality of contact terminals retained therein. Free ends of the contact terminals extend out of the headers and are soldered to an adapter board. The adapter board has rows of contact points formed thereon and staggered with respect to each other. The contact points of the adapter board may define holes through which the free ends of the contact terminals extend. Alternatively, the free ends of the contact terminals may be surface mounted to the contact points. A stand-off member has a bottom mounted to the circuit board and an upright stem extending from the bottom. A sideways projection extending from the stem is interferentially fit into a corresponding receptacle hole defined in the headers for supporting the connector on the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5967812
Abstract: A card connector apparatus includes a header connector having a housing mounted with a number of contacts for engaging with a card inserted into the apparatus, and an ejector for ejecting an inserted card. The ejector consists of a shielding shell fixed to the housing and defining a central guiding pin, a hole and a stop wall between the pin and the hole. A lever has a force exerting end, a force receiving tongue connecting with a push bar, a protrusion extending into the hole and a ridge between the protrusion and the force exerting end. An actuator has a central tab extending through the force exerting end to slidably engage with the pin and two side tabs for engaging with two lateral sides of an inserted card. When the ejector is actuated to eject a card fully inserted into the apparatus by pushing the push bar to pivot the lever, the lever first pivots about a contact point between the stop wall and the ridge so that the card can be ejected with a reduced required force.
