  • Patent number: 6968905
Abstract: A distributed control system for local or remote control of equipment. The distributed control system provides a communication bridge through a local control panel between a non-real-time network, and a real-time network, such as a controller area network. Both soft real-time and hard real-time networks are suitable, but hard real-time is preferred. Multiple distributed control units are used to control various equipment components. The distributed control system may be applied in any environment. The distributed control system may be applied to a skid-mounted coiled tubing unit.

  • Publication number: 20050230101
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a wellbore comprises a housing having a longitudinal axis and a mechanism having one or more impact elements adapted to move along the longitudinal axis in an oscillating manner to impart a back and forth force on the housing to vibrate the housing. In another arrangement, an apparatus for use in a wellbore comprises a housing and at least one impact element rotatably mounted in the housing. The at least one impact element is rotatable to oscillate back and forth to impart a vibration force to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20040182574
Abstract: A distributed control system permits local or remote control of equipment. The distributed control system provides a communication bridge through a local control panel between a non-real-time network, such as an Ethernet, and a real-time network, such as a controller area network. Both soft real-time and hard real-time networks are suitable, but hard real-time is preferred. The system uses multiple distributed control units to control various equipment components and is thus highly expandable. The distributed control system may be applied in any environment. When applied to a skid-mounted coiled tubing unit, the distributed control system reduces the amount of hydraulic hose required and therefore makes set up and take down shorter and more economical.

  • Publication number: 20020148606
Abstract: A method and apparatus of vibrating a tubing string in a wellbore comprises a rigid carrier or conveyance structure coupled to an acoustic resonance apparatus. The acoustic resonance apparatus comprises a housing section containing a fluid. A pulser or other device is activated to generate acoustic waves in the fluid. A portion of the acoustic wave energy is reflected by a reflector in the acoustic resonance apparatus. The operating frequency of the pulser or other device is adjusted to achieve acoustic resonance in the fluid.
