    Abstract: In an engine-starting and stopping system in a vehicle, a crank pulley for driving auxiliary parts by an endless belt is mounted at an end of a crankshaft protruding from a cylinder block of an engine, and a starter motor for cranking the crankshaft is accommodated in an internal space in the crank pulley. The starter motor includes a rotor having a permanent magnet fixed to an inner peripheral surface of a peripheral wall of the crank pulley, and a stator having a coil fixed to an outer surface of a chain cover. Thus, the starter motor for automatically carrying out the restarting of the engine after stopping of the engine can be laid out compactly.

    Abstract: A system for automatically stopping and starting an engine of a vehicle which enables proper determination of whether the stopping of the engine is possible, in accordance with the state of a battery. A power brought out from the battery by auxiliaries is subtracted from a power generated by a generator, thereby calculating a difference corresponding to a power for actually charging the battery. By sequentially adding the value, an integrated value of power charged in the battery is calculated. Meanwhile, a value of a known power WBRK consumed by a brake lamp plus a current power consumed by the auxiliaries is multiplied by a beforehand determined target value of idling-stoppage duration, thereby evaluating an evaluated integrated value of power consumed by the battery during stoppage of an idling. If the integrated value is not less than the evaluated integrated value, the stopping of the engine E is permitted.

A resistor electrode for constructing the sensor is formed by laminating a resistor composed of a resistance substance on a base plate in a linear section corresponding to the linear region. In a stepped section corresponding to the stepped region, the resistor electrode is formed by laminating the resistor on a conductive layer composed of a conductive substance formed on the base plate.

The two-cycle action cam 1 effects opening of the inlet and exhaust valves once per revolution of the crankshaft and the four-cycle action cam 3 effects opening of the inlet and exhaust valves once per two revolutions of the crankshaft. The four-cycle action is selected when the engine is in the low revolving speed and running at a low load and the two-cycle action is otherwise selected.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle alternator connected to an output shaft of an internal combustion engine mounted on a vehicle, comprising a rotor made of a permanent magnet for producing a magnetic field, an armature (stator) having a coil placed opposite to the permanent magnet rotor and a belt drive mechanism for connecting one of the permanent magnet and the armature to the output shaft of the engine to bring them into a relative rotation such that the armature relatively moves in the magnetic field produced by the permanent magnet. In the alternator, there is provided an axial displacement mechanism for displacing at least one of the permanent magnet rotor and the armature in an axial direction of the relative rotation, whereby a magnetic flux passing through the armature is changed.

    Abstract: A fuel injection mount control system for an internal combustion engine includes an ECU which calculates a first amount of fuel directly drawn into each combustion chamber out of an amount of fuel injected into the intake passage via a corresponding fuel injection valve, a second amount of fuel carried off fuel adhering to the wall surface of the intake passage into the combustion chamber, and an amount of fuel to be injected into the intake passage, based on the first fuel amount and the second fuel amount, calculates an air-fuel ratio correction amount, based on an output form an air-fuel ratio sensor arranged in the exhaust system, and corrects the amount of fuel to be injected into the intake passage by the air-fuel ratio correction amount. Further, the ECU corrects the second fuel amount, based on the air-fuel ratio correction amount.

    Abstract: A fuel injection amount control system for an internal combustion engine includes an ECU which calculates a desired amount of fuel to be supplied to each combustion chamber in response to operating conditions of the engine, and calculates values of parameters indicative of fuel adherence characteristics of the interior of the intake passage in response to operating conditions of the engine. The ECU further calculates a first fuel amount which is directly drawn into the combustion chamber from a fuel amount injected by the fuel injection valve, and a second amount of fuel which is carried off the wall surface of the intake passage due to evaporation and drawn into the combustion chamber, based upon the values of the parameters. The ECU calculates an injection amount of fuel to be injected, by correcting the desired fuel amount, based upon the first and second fuel amounts.

    Abstract: In a dual-fuel internal combustion engine which can selectively use gaseous fuel such as CNG or liquid fuel such as gasoline, a pair of intake passages are independently connected to a combustion chamber of the engine, and a gaseous fuel supply device and a liquid fuel supply device are provided in the corresponding intake passages so that the liquid and gaseous fuels may not mix with each other when the fuel for the engine is switched over one from the other as they are introduced into the combustion chamber through different intake passages. Further, by switching the operating mode of the intake valve when changing the fuel, the configuration of the intake passage can be optimized for each fuel, and the timing and the lift of the intake valves may also be optimized for each fuel without complicating the control structure of the overall system. The present invention can improve the torque output and the emission property of the dual-fuel engine.
