  • Patent number: 7656599
Abstract: A rewrite determining unit of a hard disk apparatus acquires a servo signal that includes an offtrack amount corresponding to each servo frame from a position information memory, and determines whether a write fault has occurred based on the servo signal. If a write fault has occurred, the rewrite determining unit determines a rewrite sector count, and a write controller controls a hard disk controller so that rewriting is performed to correspond to the rewrite sector count determined by the rewrite determining unit.

  • Patent number: 7623314
Abstract: A head control device for controlling, through thermal expansion of a heater, a position of a head for reading and writing data from and to a storage medium, includes a heater control unit that increases a current supplied to the heater stepwise; and an external-force sample retrieving unit that retrieves sampling values of signals each indicating a magnitude of an external force acting on the head in a moving direction of a head support mechanism. The head control device also includes an external-force evaluating unit that calculates a representative value of the sampling values retrieved by the external-force sample retrieving unit to evaluate the magnitude of the external force every time the heater control unit increases the current; and a contact detecting unit that detects contact between the head and the storage medium by comparing each evaluation result by the external-force evaluating unit with a predetermined threshold value.

  • Patent number: 7430092
Abstract: Offtrack amounts corresponding to every servo in which data writing has been completed is stored in a storage unit. Offtrack amount corresponding to a next servo frame, which is a servo frame present next to a servo frame for which data has been written, is calculated from the offtrack amounts stored in the storage unit. Based on the offtrack amount of the next servo frame, it is decided whether data needs to be rewritten in a sector present before the next servo frame.

  • Patent number: 7382563
Abstract: Upon obtaining a detection signal of a shock sensor that detects a shock applied to an apparatus for output, a write disabling unit disables writing by a head on a medium over a predetermined time corresponding to a shock convergence. A determining unit determines, during the write disable, whether an output of the shock sensor is a detection output of the shock sensor due to a shock or an erroneous detection output of the shock sensor due to power supply fluctuations. A sensitivity control unit increases a detection sensitivity of the shock sensor when the determining unit determines that the output is a detection output due to the shock, and decreases the detection sensitivity of the shock sensor and clears the write disable when the determining unit determines that the output is an erroneous detection output due to power supply fluctuations.

  • Patent number: 7276874
Abstract: A movement controlling unit performs movement control of a head toward a target track on a magnetic disk medium driving a head actuator, and a position controlling unit performs position control of the head actuator in accordance with proportional integral calculations such that a deviation of a head position relative to a track center is eliminated when the moving head arrives at the target track. A gain retaining unit retains an integral gain of the proportional integral calculations in an increased state during a predetermined retention time from the start of the position control, and a gain switching unit switches the increased integral gain smoothly to the original integral gain when the retention time has elapsed.

  • Patent number: 6060255
Abstract: A type IV collagen high molecular form having a higher molecular weight than the 7S domain of type IV collagen and including the 7S domain in its structure, is obtained from the supernatant being recovered from a collagen solution digested by pepsin in the following steps;1) salt precipitating with sodium chloride at a concentration no higher than 1.2 M,2) dissolving the precipitates,3) salt precipitating with sodium chloride at a concentration no higher than previous concentration. By reacting a sample with an antibody which reacts with this form, the type IV collagen high molecular form in the sample can be measured to allow diagnosis of the degree of liver fibrosis in patients with liver diseases.
