Abstract: A highly moisture-absorptive fiber obtained by mixing and kneading one or more kinds of animal protein fibers, general protein forming the animal skin, bones, and others, pulverized to very fine powder of the 0.05 to 15 .mu.m size with a polymer of synthetic fiber, semi-synthetic fiber or regenerated fiber or polymer of chemical fiber material consisting of a mixture of more than two kinds of these polymers and spinning the kneaded composition, which can give a fine fiber having flexibility and proper elongation.

Abstract: Fibers having effective selective absorption of solar energy properties with a minimum loss of heat radiation is useful for clothings, such as sports and leisures, or interior goods, such as curtains, or outdoor leasure goods, such as tents, spun from a mixture of transition metal carbide powder with a thermoplastic synthetic linear polymer, optionally also containing an aluminum powder. Alternatively, a sheath/core compound filament is obtained by compound spinning wherein a synthetic linear polymer forms the sheath and a mixture of a transition metal powder with a thermoplastic synthetic linear polymer, optimally also containing aluminum powder, forms the core.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide a solar heat selective absorbing material of high performance which is prepared by using a diversity substrate by simple manufacturing methods. The construction of the solar heat selective absorbing material is such that a carbide of a transition metal belonging to the IV group of periodic table or a mixed powder of the carbide and the aluminum is applied directly or by means of a binder on the surface of the substrate to form a film. This solar heat selective absorbing material is manufactured by a method of forming a film of material, for example, ZrC on the surface of the substrate by high frequency sputtering or a method of mixing a mixed powder of the ZrC and Al with a resin binder and coating or printing the mixed material on the surface of the substrate.
