  • Publication number: 20070115714
Abstract: An initialization method of the present invention is a method for initializing a material (variable-resistance material) (2) whose resistance value increases/decreases according to the polarity of an applied electric pulse. An electric pulse having a first polarity is applied at least once between first and second electrodes (1, 3) connected to the variable-resistance material (2) such that the potential of the first electrode is higher than that of the second electrode.

  • Publication number: 20060164755
Abstract: In a magnetic head, a multilayer film is disposed, the multilayer film including metal magnetic films and non-magnetic films that are alternately laminated, and a boundary between the multilayer film and a magnetic oxide substrate or a non-magnetic substrate on which the multilayer film is to be formed is parallel with a gap section at a surface of the magnetic head for sliding with respect to a magnetic recording medium. The metal magnetic films constituting the multilayer film have two or more types of thickness, or the metal magnetic films constituting the multilayer film have a uniform thickness, and the uniform thickness t satisfies t<vĂ—cos ?/fmax, where v denotes a relative speed of the head to the recording medium, fmax denotes an upper limit of frequencies to be used and ? denotes an azimuth angle. With this configuration, a magnetic head having a suppressed pseudo signal and reduced noise can be provided, and a magnetic recording/reproducing device incorporating this magnetic head can be provided.

  • Patent number: 5676768
Abstract: A ring-type magnetic head is of a structure in which a metallic magnetic film is sandwiched between two substrates, and the metallic magnetic film has a saturation magnetic field not less than 50 A/m in all directions parallel to a film plane thereof. Where the metallic magnetic film is a Co-containing magnetically soft film having a crystallization temperature Tx greater than the Curie temperature Tc, the metallic magnetic film is subjected to a first heat treatment at a temperature not less than Tc and a second heat treatment at a temperature Ta of Tc-180.degree. C..ltoreq.Ta.ltoreq.Tc-30.degree. C. in the absence of any applied magnetic field. Where the metallic magnetic film is a Co-containing magnetically soft film having a crystallization temperature Tx less than the Curie temperature Tc, the metallic magnetic film is subjected to a first heat treatment at a temperature not greater than Tx while a rotating magnetic field is being applied thereto and a second heat treatment at a temperature Ta of Tx-200.

  • Patent number: 5208971
Abstract: A method of making a magnetic head wherein a metal material is sandwiched between non-magnetic substrates, including the steps of: forming a magnetic metal material at least on one side of a non-magnetic substrate; forming by sputtering a crystallization glass layer at least on one side of a compound substrate prepared by forming an anti-diffusion film on the magnetic metal material; then heat-treating in an oxygen containing atmosphere the compound substrate on which the crystallization glass has been formed; further laminating together a number of the aforesaid compound substrates under pressure and then processing (such as by cutting, grinding, and heat-treating) the laminate.
