  • Patent number: 8060285
Abstract: A system and method of intelligent agent management within a vehicle intelligent agent system includes a host system, an overseer agent, and an agent that are all in communication via a communications network. The system includes an executable overseer agent management program that uses the identification code of the agent to determine if the agent identification code has been copied and deletes the agent from the intelligent agent system if the agent identification code has been copied. If the agent identification code has not been copied, the agent gathers new information, and the information in the agent knowledge database is updated using the new information and the updated information is transferred from the agent knowledge database to the overseer agent knowledge database. The overseer agent checks the validity of the transmitted information, and agent is deleted and a new agent is generated if the learned information is not valid.

  • Patent number: 7845012
Abstract: A system and method of intelligent agent identification for a vehicle is provided. The method including the steps of a host computer system selecting an intelligent agent and determining a slave system to receive the intelligent agent. The host system encrypts a work activity to be performed by the agent, and predetermined host identification information, and programs the encrypted work activity and predetermined host information into the selected agent. The methodology randomly generates an identification code for the selected agent and programs the code into the selected agent. The selected agent is transmitted to the selected slave system via a communication network. The slave computer system decodes the host information and agent identification code carried by the agent, and determines if the decoded host information matches corresponding host identification information stored in memory of the slave computer system.

  • Publication number: 20080291014
Abstract: A system and method for the remote diagnosis and repair of a plant malfunction in an automotive vehicle. The method includes the step of sending a plant malfunction diagnostic request to the remote station. Thereafter, the remote station transmits a software agent selected as a function of the nature of the malfunction from the remote station and to the vehicle. Upon execution, the software agent collects plant data relevant to the malfunction and transmits that collected data from the vehicle and to the remote station. The remote station analyzes the data to diagnose the cause of the plant malfunction and, if necessary, transmits additional diagnostic software agents to the vehicle to complete the diagnosis and then generates an output signal as a result of that analysis. If the malfunction is repairable at the plant, such as a software malfunction, the remote station transmits a software agent to the vehicle to perform the repair.

  • Patent number: 7233879
Abstract: A system and method of intelligent agent self-repair for an intelligent agent system in a vehicle is provided that includes a host system in communication with an intelligent agent via a communications network. An executable software program verifies if the agent work procedure list matches a corresponding work procedure list for the agent that is stored in the memory of the host system. Execution of the agent work procedure list by the agent is ceased and the agent is repaired by transmitting a new work procedure list to the agent from the host information database, if the agent work procedure list is not verified. The agent continues to execute the work instructions if the agent work procedure list is verified or the agent is repaired.
