  • Publication number: 20040170099
Abstract: A method for recording data comprising: forming recording data by adding a pattern of connection bits selected from among a plurality of patterns of connection bits to the end of an m-bit data symbol, the selected pattern of connection bits causing an increase in an accumulated value of direct-current components per unit time when the n-bit data symbol is a special data symbol and is added to a data symbol other than the special data symbol, when m-bit data is converted into the n-bit data symbol (m<n) and when the pattern of connection bits is selected from among the plurality of patterns of connection bits to decrease the accumulated value of direct-current components per unit time to be added to the end of the m-bit data symbol; and recording the recording data formed and data indicating a recorded location of the special data symbol on a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20040165511
Abstract: A CD which cannot practically be copied. A recording method, wherein, when a certain portion of main data is recorded by being encoded by a first encoding method and the other portions of the main data is recorded by being encoded by a second encoding method, an encoding process is performed by the first encoding method so that, when data which is recorded in such a manner that the data encoded by the first encoding method is decoded by a decoding method corresponding to the first encoding method, and thereafter, is further encoded by the second encoding method, is decoded by a decoding method corresponding to the second encoding method, the sum value of DC components per unit time increases.

  • Publication number: 20040143818
Abstract: Unique identification information is prerecorded on a disc. The identification information is registered to a server along with user's license when he or she buys the disc. When an terminal unit reproduces data from the disc, identification information is read and transmitted to the server through the Internet. The server creates a key that controls to reproduce data from the disc in accordance with the license identified by the identification information and transmits the key to the terminal unit along with the user's license information for the disc. The terminal unit controls to reproduce contents of the disc in accordance with key and license information transmitted from the server. The license for each disc is managed in accordance with the identification information. Thus, different services can be provided for individual discs.

  • Publication number: 20040056090
Abstract: First, an ID added disc is loaded. A disc ID is read from the disc at step S2. The disc ID matches a hardware ID of hardware that can use software recorded on the disc. If the disc ID has not been read from the disc, an error process is performed. At step S3, a hardware ID of hardware connected to a personal computer is obtained. At step S4, it is determined whether or not both the IDs match. When the determined result represents that they match, at step S5, an application starts. When the determined result at step S4 represents that they do not match, at step S6, an error message is displayed on a display of the personal computer.

  • Publication number: 20040052191
Abstract: On a data recording medium which is divided into sectors and can be accessed on the sector unit basis, when encoded data is divided every predetermined length, a header is added, the data is packetized, a header is further added to the packet to thereby form the pack data, and the resultant data is recorded, if the stuffing is necessary, the stuffing data is inserted to the last of a data area of the packet. Thus, a length of pack header can be fixed. There is no need to provide a padding packet. A situation such that a PES header is encrypted is prevented and no problem occurs when encryption is performed.

  • Publication number: 20040030909
Abstract: A recording medium reproducing method is disclosed. It is judged whether or not content data which has been read from a recording medium is encrypted content data. When content data which has been read from the recording medium is encrypted content data, third key data (key locker key data) for decrypting encrypted content key data which has been read from the recording medium is generated with at least first key data (medium bind key data) and second key data (medium key block) which has been read from the recording medium. With the content key data decrypted with the third key data, the encrypted data which has been read from the recording medium is decrypted.

  • Publication number: 20040024654
Abstract: An administrative system receives unique ID information of disk from an orderer for ordering manufacture of the disks and provides the unique ID information for a disk maker. The maker stores on the disk unique attribute information of the disk including identification information for the disk makre side. The administrative system obtains normal recording information generated if normal recording is carried out when recording on the disk the unique attribute information of the disk. Alternatively, the administrative system obtains abnormal recording information generated if abnormal recording is carried out. Disk administrative information, for example, number of pieces of the disks delivered from the factory, is generated from the obtained normal and abnormal recording information.
