  • Patent number: 4123616
Abstract: An organic peroxide is hydrogenated to produce the corresponding mono- or polyhydric alcohol in a suspensoid process or a fluidized bed process in the presence of more than 3 wt. % of a nickel catalyst at a reaction temperature of 140.degree. to 200.degree. C under a hydrogen pressure of 10 to 300 Kg/cm.sup.2 by feeding the organic peroxide at a rate of 0.05 to 10 g/hr. per 1 g of the nickel catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 1977
Date of Patent: October 31, 1978
Assignee: Toyo Soda Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Inventors: Shunsuke Mabuchi, Kenji Tsuzuki, Sadakatsu Kumoi
  • Patent number: 4112004
Abstract: A monohydric or polyhydric alcohol is produced by continuous hydrogenation of an organic peroxide in the presence of a nickel catalyst by continuously feeding a solution of the organic peroxide and a suspension of the nickel catalyst in a ratio of the organic peroxide to the nickel catalyst in the range of 10 : 1 to 0.1 : 1, and by continuously discharging the reaction mixture with the catalyst so as to maintain a constant weight and composition of the reaction mixture in the reactor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 4, 1976
Date of Patent: September 5, 1978
Assignee: Toyo Soda Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
    Inventors: Shunsuke Mabuchi, Kenji Tsuzuki
  • Patent number: 4002692
Abstract: The poisoned nickel catalyst obtained from the hydrogenation of an organopolymeric peroxide with hydrogen in an organic solvent is reactivated by treating the poisoned nickel catalyst with hydrogen in an oxygen containing polar organic solvent at 140.degree. - 250.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 1975
Date of Patent: January 11, 1977
Assignee: Toyo Soda Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Inventors: Shunsuke Mabuchi, Kenji Tsuzuki, Hideaki Matsunaga
  • Patent number: 3980720
Abstract: A poisoned Raney nickel catalyst from the hydrogenolysis of an organic peroxide polymer is reactivated by treating the catalyst with a 0.1-5 N solution of an activating reagent selected from the group consisting of ammonia, and an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal hydroxide, carbonate or carboxylate having 1-4 carbon atoms at 20.degree.-200.degree.C under an inert gas atmosphere.
