  • Patent number: 4036183
Abstract: A rotary piston engine comprises a housing having a trochoidal peripheral wall and side walls on both sides thereof, a rotor adapted to perform a planetary rotary motion along the inner surface of the peripheral wall, and intake and exhaust ports formed in the housing. The engine performs intake, compression, combustion and exhaust strokes of a working fluid in accordance with the planetary rotary motion of the rotor. An air injection port is formed in the peripheral wall of the housing between the exhaust port and a portion of the minor axis of the trochoidal curve, being adapted to communicate with the intake chamber formed between the peripheral wall and the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4030464
Abstract: A fuel-air mixture heating device for use with an internal combustion engine wherein a combustion chamber of an auxiliary burner is disposed adjacent to an intake manifold of the engine for heating the same, said combustion chamber being communicated with said intake manifold through a control valve which varies its opening degree in response to a parameter or signal representative of at least one of the operating conditions of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4002025
Abstract: A system for heating the intake pipe of an internal combustion engine including a combustion equipment disposed adjacent to the intake pipe, a fuel supply system for supplying the fuel into the combustion equipment and an air supply system including an air pump for charging the air into the combustion equipment, the intake pipe being heated by the heat generated by the combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the combustion equipment. The fuel supply system includes a main fuel injection nozzle and an auxiliary fuel injection nozzle which is controlled by control means so as to start or stop the fuel injection depending upon the operating conditions of the engine. When the engine is started, both the main and auxiliary fuel injection nozzles inject fuel so as to attain the rapid heating of the intake pipe, but when the temperature of the intake pipe exceeds a predetermined level, the injection by the auxiliary fuel injection nozzle is stopped.

  • Patent number: 3977366
Abstract: An intake system for intercommunicating a carburetor and a combustion chamber of internal combustion engines which has a cylinder head, an intake port provided in the cylinder head, an intake valve located in the intake port and an exhaust manifold communicated with the combustion chamber. At least two intake passages are provided to join together at that part in the intake port which is immediately before the intake valve. One of the intake passages passes through the exhaust manifold, whereby the atomized fuel particles in an air-fuel mixture to be sucked in the combustion chamber can be positively vaporized without accompanying high temperature rising of the mixture.

  • Patent number: 3977368
Abstract: A rotary piston engine comprises a housing having a trochoidal peripheral wall and side walls on both sides thereof, a rotor adapted to perform a planetary rotary motion along the inner surface of the peripheral wall and intake and exhaust ports formed in the housing. The engine performs intake, compression, combustion and exhaust of a working fluid by means of the planetary rotary motion of the rotor. An air injection port is formed in the peripheral wall of the housing between the exhaust port and a portion of the peripheral wall through which the minor axis of the trochoidal curve extends.

  • Patent number: 3970049
Abstract: There is provided an ignition system for a rotary piston engine comprising first and second ignition means mounted in a rotor housing. The first ignition means is positioned ahead of the second ignition means in the direction of rotation of a rotor. Switching means is actuated in response to the output signal of an engine speed sensor and an intake manifold vacuum sensor so that current is supplied to the second ignition means only during specified periods such as during the high engine speed operation and high engine load operation.
