  • Patent number: 5601873
Abstract: The present invention relates to a granulating and coating technique, and more particularly to a technique wherein powder and granules are contained in a drum rotating about a substantially horizontal axis and the rotary drum is rotated for granulation of the granules and (or) coating. There is provided a rotary drum (1) for containing the powder and granules (M) and rotating about the substantially horizontal axis, and also provided a buffle member (12) continuously or intermittently rotating or swinging at the inside of the powder and granules (M) layer in the rotary drum (1). The buffle is turned in the granules, so that the raw materials for the powder and granules can be prevented from adhering to the buffle member and the rotary drum or from peeling off therefrom, thus obtaining products of uniform coating.

  • Patent number: 5589225
Abstract: This is a granulating-coating apparatus comprising: a spraying means for spraying a binder liquid or a coating liquid onto articles to be processed, which are received in a rotary drum; a brush provided in a manner to be movable relatively to the spraying means in the rotary drum, for contacting a spray gun formed in the spraying means and removing adhered articles on the spray gun; and an adhered article sucking device provided in the vicinity of the brush, for receiving the removed adhered articles. With this arrangement, the adhered articles on spraying openings of the spraying means can be removed completely without contamination of the articles to be processed with the removed adhered articles.

  • Patent number: 5531826
Abstract: The rotary drum has a cylindrical portion (tubular body portion) formed therein with vent holes. An annular duct is disposed at the outside of the cylindrical portion of the rotary drum in a manner to surround the cylindrical portion. This annular duct is provided with a gas supply duct and an exhaust duct. In the annular duct, partition walls define a vent path, in which the drying gas which has been supplied from the gas supply duct flows through an accumulated layer, and thereafter, flows to the exhaust duct. The direction of flow of the drying gas in the vent path is changed over by gas supply-exhaust changeover dampers.

  • Patent number: 5050528
Abstract: A granulating and coating method featuring that a coating liquid and a binder liquid are fed into a rotary drum so as to carry out granulating and coating of a powdery and/or granular material, wherein the coating is performed while a gas is blown out to the rear of the rotating direction of the drum relative to a nozzle unit for feeding the coating liquid of an aqueous type including an emulsion and a suspension into the drum. A granulating and coating apparatus featuring that a nozzle unit for feeding at least one of a coating liquid and a binder liquid into a rotary drum is provided, wherein a gas blow-out portion of a duct is provided near the nozzle unit and the direction of the blow-out is adjustable relative to the nozzle unit. Further the apparatus is provided with a perforated ventilating member over a gas blow-out opening.

  • Patent number: 5038709
Abstract: A granulating and coating apparatus in which a rotary drum containing powdery or granular material is rotated about the substantially horizontal axis for granulating and/or coating the powdery or granular material. The apparatus is provided with a disk valve mechanism for switching a gas supply or exhaust path to the rotary drum on the operating side of the rotary drum. The rotary drum is provided inside of itself with a baffle means for stirring powdery or granular material and a baffle displacing means for displacing the baffle means. Inside of the rotary drum is provided a temperature sensor for directly measuring a temperature of powdery or granular material. The rotary drum is composed of porous polygonal. Each side of the polygonal drum includes an outer enclosure mounted thereon and individual detachable.

  • Patent number: 5033405
Abstract: A granulating and coating apparatus comprising a rotary drum to be charged therein a powdery or granular material, and a baffle plate provided in the rotary drum and not rotatable together with the rotary drum. The rotary drum is formed to be a polygonal shape. This polygonal shape may be, for example, a pentagon, a hexagon, an octagon or a decagon. The baffle plate may be positionally fixedly supported. Or, the baffle plate can be made to change a position in a rocking direction, a position of the rotary drum in the axial direction, a depth of insertion into a layer of a powdery or granular material or an angle of insertion by use of plurality of actuators.

  • Patent number: 4111626
Abstract: A powder compacting machine for compressing a mass of powdery material to produce substantially flaky articles of substantially uniform thickness is constituted by a hopper unit having a built-in screw feeder and a pair of opposed compressing rolls. One of the compressing rolls is supported for movement close to and away from the other of the compressing rolls. The hopper unit has a hopper, which may be connected to a source of vacuum, and, on the other hand, one of the compressing rolls has a shape complementary to the other of the compressing rolls so that a substantially uniform thickness of the flaky articles made by compressing a mass of powdery material can be obtained. The machine also has at least one barrier employed to substantially uniformly dispense a mass of powdery material falling towards a clearance between the compressing rolls.
