  • Patent number: 4212034
Abstract: A solid-state image pickup device has a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arranged in a two-dimensional pattern, to which horizontal and vertical switches are coupled for selecting the photoelectric conversion elements; horizontal and vertical scanning circuitry for turning the switches "on" and "off" are integrated on the same semiconductor substrate. In order to detect an image with low capacitive lag and high resolution power, the required minimum number (four) of switching elements, adapted to turn respective fields "on" and "off" in a predetermined combination, are connected to an output terminal of each of the unit circuits which constitute the vertical scanning circuit. Using an output scanning pulse from the vertical scanning circuit and a field pulse, interlaced scanning in which two row lines are simultaneously selected in one of the combinations differing for the respective fields is executed so as to derive an optical image through the vertical switches.

  • Patent number: 4155006
Abstract: In a solid-state imaging device having photodiodes which are arrayed in the form of a matrix, horizontal output switches and vertical output switches are selectively closed in order to sequentially detect signals stored in the photodiodes, and a horizontal shift register and a vertical shift register supply switching pulses to the switches. A common potential line of both the shift registers is held at a predetermined D. C. potential with respect to ground potential, whereby the dynamic range of the photodiodes is expanded.

  • Patent number: 3955100
Abstract: A charge transfer device is made up of a plurality of charge transfer stages, each stage being composed of a plurality of capacitors and corresponding transfer electrodes. Signal charges are transferred from one stage to another by impressing clock pulses from a pulse supplying circuit to respective transfer electrodes. The pulse supplying circuit sequentially applies clock pulses which are adapted to transfer a signal charge to the initial capacitor of a respective stage during a fixed transfer time period, for a predetermined period of time within a variable time period corresponding to a delay period of time, to the respective transfer electrodes. The pulse supplying circuit also applies a clock pulse which is adapted to cause charges which are transferred to the initial capacitor to be retained therein, for the remaining period of time of said variable time period, this clock pulse being applied to a corresponding electrode of the initial capacitor.
