  • Patent number: 7926820
Abstract: A stabilizer control apparatus includes a stabilizer bar including both ends supported by right and left wheels of a vehicle, respectively, and an intermediate portion supported to a vehicle body by first and second supporting members, and a switching device arranged between one of the first and second supporting members and the vehicle body and including a cylinder member, a tubular piston member, a spring member, and an engaging/disengaging mechanism. The switching device switches over the spring member from an extendable/retractable position to a neutral position and vice versa. The engaging/disengaging mechanism allows the piston member to axially move relative to the cylinder member when the spring member is in the extendable/retractable position and prevents the piston member from axially moving relative to the cylinder member when the spring member is retained in the neutral position.

  • Patent number: 5595089
Abstract: An actuator for steering rear wheels is reduced in size and its construction is simplified while preventing a degradation in the reliability. An electric coil 2 is disposed on the outside while a rotor is disposed on the inside, assisting in heating dissipation. One of bearings 10 which support a rotor and an electric coil 2 are integrally secured to a casing 1 when a resin 3 is molded thereon. At the same time, a ring gear 12 is formed by the molding of the resin 3. In addition, the molding operation of the resin forms one of sun gears, 11a, integrally with a rotor 4. The casing 1 is formed with a recess or projection 1a, 1b, thus preventing a slip of the resin member 3 from occurring. A permanent magnet 13 which is separate from a permanent magnet 5 used for driving is mounted on the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5456330
Abstract: A return-m-neutral mechanism for a rear wheel steering device for an electronically controlled four wheel steering vehicle, in which a spring provided in the return-to-neutral mechanism does not come into operation within a predetermined steering angle range corresponding to the most frequent occurrences in actual application, thereby achieving energy saving and improving response characteristics. In the return-to-neutral mechanism for the rear wheel steering device for restoring the steered rear wheel to its neutral position under the biasing force of the spring, a dead zone corresponding to a predetermined steering angle of the rear wheels is provided for the spring.

  • Patent number: 5027915
Abstract: An electric power steering system includes a steering torque detecting device for detecting a steering torque applied between an input shaft connected to a steering wheel and an output shaft connected to a steering gear in response to an elastic deformation of an elastic member connecting the input shaft with the output shaft, an electric motor whose rotation is controlled by a control signal from a control device in response to a detecting signal from the steering torque detecting device, and a clutch device interposed between the electric motor and the output shaft and controlling an intermittent transmission of the rotation of the electric motor to the output shaft in response to the elastic deformation of the elastic member. Thereby, it is possible to improve the safety performance, the reliability and the steering wheel feeling of an electric power steering system.
