Abstract: A video surveillance system includes both system cameras that are commissioned as part of the video surveillance system and registered on-demand cameras that are voluntarily made available to the video surveillance system by third parties for use in conjunction with the video surveillance system. A method includes displaying on a display a representation of available cameras including both system cameras and registered on-demand cameras, wherein the system cameras are represented using a first style of icon and the on-demand cameras are represented using a second style of icon different from the first style of icon. A selection of two or more cameras from the representation of available cameras for display is accepted. Video streams from each of the selected two or more cameras are displayed on the display viewable by an operator of the video surveillance system.

Abstract: A method of monitoring an event that is expected to progress along a planned event route includes receiving an indication of a current location of the event as the event progresses along the planned event route. Camera feeds that correspond to the current location of the event as the event progresses along the planned event route are automatically identified, selected and displayed on a situation awareness wall. Camera feeds that correspond to an expected future position of the event as the event progresses along the planned event route are automatically selected and displayed. Camera feeds that correspond to a previous position of the event as the event progresses along the planned event route are automatically removed from the situation awareness wall.

Abstract: Performance of a video system including a plurality of video cameras each configured to provide a video stream to one or more video recorders and as a monitoring station at which a user can view live and recorded video streams is evaluated. A plurality of live video streams are automatically processed to ascertain one or more live video quality metrics. A plurality of recorded video streams are automatically processed to ascertain one or more recorded video quality metrics. One or more measures of performance of the video system are automatically determined based on the one or more live video quality metrics, the one or more recorded video quality metrics. One or more underperforming components of the video system are identified based at least in part on one or more of the measures of performance of the video system.
