  • Patent number: 7274357
Abstract: A touch pad module includes a touch pad unit for generating contact signals in response to operation thereof, a control circuit unit separate from the touch pad unit, and an electrical coupling unit having a first end coupled to the touch pad unit and a second end coupled to the control circuit unit. The electrical coupling unit permits transmission of the contact signals generated by the touch pad unit to the control circuit unit.

  • Publication number: 20050134576
Abstract: A handheld electronic device includes a touch control input module and a processing device. The touch control input module includes a protective layer, a sensing layer, and a signal processing unit. The protective layer has outer and inner surfaces. The outer surface is defined with a plurality of contact regions, each of which is marked with a symbol. The sensing layer is in contact with the inner surface, and is responsive to contact of an object with the outer surface so as to generate an electrical output indicative of contact position of the object with the outer surface. The signal processing unit receives the electrical output, and generates a control output corresponding thereto. The processing device is responsive to the control output from the signal processing unit so as to perform an operation associated with the control output.

  • Publication number: 20050134577
Abstract: A touch control module includes a touch control unit operable so as to generate a contact signal in response to contact with an object, a computing unit coupled electrically to the touch control unit so as to receive the contact signal therefrom, and a transmission interface including a set of transmission lines coupled electrically to the computing unit. The computing unit is configured to generate different control signals, each of which is generated in accordance with a contact position of the object with the touch control unit. Each of the transmission lines is used to transmit a respective one of the control signals to a host unit for scrolling control of a graphical user interface display of the host unit.
