Abstract: A USB cable configured for charging a recipient device with a power source, the USB cable comprising: a first end connector for coupling with the power source, the first end connector comprising a first temperature sensor configured to obtain temperature measurements of the power source; a second end connector for coupling with the recipient device; and a controller module connected with the first end connector and the second end connector, the controller module configured to prevent current from flowing from the power source to the recipient device upon the first temperature sensor detecting an abnormally high temperature of the power source.

Abstract: A multimode audio reproduction device is disclosed that comprises first and second audio reproduction modules coupled by a support structure. The first and second audio reproduction modules are movable between two configurations. In the first configuration the audio reproduction device serves as a loudspeaker while in the second configuration the audio reproduction device serves as a headphone.

Abstract: A method for forming a panoramic image using a camera. The method comprises taking a first photograph using the camera. On a display of the camera a blending area is formed. The blending area includes a part of a first image of the first photograph displayed on the display. The camera is moved before being prepared to take a second photograph. In the blending area only, a pixel matching process is performed for determining an alignment of the portion of the first image in the blending area and part of a second image of the second photograph in the blending area. A camera is also disclosed.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for secure placement on a substantially flat surface. The apparatus includes a case; at least one support piece located on the substantially flat surface for placement of the case, the support piece including at least one piece of a first material; and at least one piece of a second material located within the case. The case rotates about an axis when a facing/bearing of the apparatus is changed. The axis may be either horizontal or vertical. Preferably, at least one of the first material and the second material is a magnet for magnetic attraction between the at least one piece of the first material and the at least one piece of the second material. The apparatus may be a web camera, a set of speakers, a microphone, a light source, or any combination of the aforementioned. It is advantageous for stability that the at least one piece of a second material is located at a fixed position relative to an inner surface of the case whatever the facing/bearing of the apparatus.

Abstract: A portable device comprising a casing with at least one function key, a recess in a wall of the casing for accommodating a connector when the connector is not in use, a connector cable for permanently connecting the connector to an internal circuitry of the portable device; the recess being sized, shaped and located to as to not interfere with operation of the plurality of function keys; the connector, when in the recess, having a side surface substantially coplanar with the wall. The connector and the connector cable are for enabling: data transfer both ways between the portable device and another device, and one-way power from the another device to the portable device, when the another device is a host for the portable device; and data transfer both ways between the potable device and the another device, and power both ways between the portable device and the another device, when the portable device is the host for the another device.

Abstract: The present invention is a docking interface for portable electronic devices that feature at least a printed circuit board (PCB) contact and a set of spring loaded contact pins for facilitating the recharging of power source and transfer of data between the devices and their hosts. Because of the thickness of a PCB and the retraction of the spring loaded pins, the overall profile of the present invention is reduced to a minimum. At the same time, the reliability of the contact between the portable device and the docking station is assured. As such, the present invention offers an economical and reliable solution for docking interface in portable electronic devices that permit further reduction in size and weight without imposing constraints on the availability of increased functionality.
