  • Patent number: 9713559
Abstract: A medical chair includes a seat supported by a base and actuators adapted to both tilt and lift the seat with respect to the base. A controller controls the actuators to both lift and tilt the seat as the seat moves from the sitting position to the standing position. The movement from the sitting position to the standing position assists in the egress of an occupant from the chair, while the movement from the standing position to the sitting position assists in the ingress of an occupant to the chair. A backrest on the chair remains substantially vertically oriented during movement between the sitting and standing position so as to provide more comfort to the occupant during the sit-to-stand or stand-to-sit movement. The backrest also moves in a manner that generally keeps the occupant's torso vertically aligned with his or her hips during this movement.

  • Patent number: 9671877
Abstract: A passive stylus with a deformable tip is described herein. In one embodiment, a thin annular body configured to be hand-held with a chisel shaped tip disposed at the first end of the body is provided. The chisel shaped tip includes a deformable material such that the chisel shaped tip is operable to interface with a touch a sensitive surface with a detectable surface area when a first pressure is exerted on the body and translated to the chisel shaped tip. The chisel shaped tip is operable to interface with the touch sensitive surface with a second detectable surface area, this one different from the first detectable surface area, when a second pressure is exerted on the body and translated to the chisel shaped tip. The stylus may include a second tip on the back end for providing an erase function.

  • Patent number: 9301895
Abstract: A medical chair includes a base and a pair of arm rests supported relative to the base for movement between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the base. The raised position of at least one of the arm rests is upward and forward of its lowered position to provide support to a patient when exiting the chair. For example, the arm rest may be mounted relative to the base to move between the raised position and the lowered position along a linear path.
