Abstract: A method for creating a private image in a public cloud and a related device. The method includes: A cloud management platform on a network side provide a plurality of interfaces for a tenant, and obtain, based on the plurality of interfaces, an ISO file uploaded by the tenant and an operation input by the tenant. The cloud management platform registers the ISO file as an ISO image in the public cloud based on the input operation, where the ISO image carries the installation file of the operating system, installs the installation file of the operating system carried in the ISO image on a temporary cloud server, sets a running environment in an operating system on the temporary cloud server, obtains an image of the temporary cloud server in which the running environment is set, and records the image as a system disk image of the tenant in the public cloud.

Abstract: A virtual machine password reset method includes a virtual machine first sending a password obtaining request to a cloud service computing node, the cloud service computing node querying a reset password of the virtual machine in a metadata server based on the password obtaining request, the cloud service computing node returning a password obtaining response based on a result of querying the reset password of the virtual machine in the metadata server, the virtual machine configuring the reset password as a password of the virtual machine, to complete virtual machine password reset.

Abstract: An image file conversion method includes: obtaining an original image file of a virtual machine on an original platform; detecting whether the original image file has a first file characteristic and a second file characteristic that are corresponding to a target platform, wherein the first file characteristic comprises a target driver used when the virtual machine runs on the target platform, and the second file characteristic comprises a target file format supported by the target platform; and changing, in response to detecting that the original image file does not have at least one of the first file characteristic or the second file characteristic, the original image file by calling a predetermined interface, to obtain a target image file of the virtual machine on the target platform, wherein the target image file has the first file characteristic and the second file characteristic.

Abstract: This application discloses a virtual machine management method and apparatus for a cloud platform. When a client selects a Bring Your Own License mode, the method includes: obtaining a first client image file, where the first client image file carries a first software operating environment; configuring the first client image file based on the first license, to generate a first cloud platform image file; creating a first virtual machine based on the first cloud platform image file, where the first software operating environment is set on the first virtual machine; and exempting a license fee of the software in the first software operating environment in the first virtual machine. This improves convenience of migrating an enterprise service to the cloud.

Abstract: A virtual machine migration method and apparatus, that the method includes: downloading an image file of a to-be-migrated virtual machine from an object storage; starting a preset command to process the downloaded image file, to obtain a private image corresponding to the image file of the to-be-migrated virtual machine, and provisioning, by using the private image, a virtual machine that runs on a destination virtualization platform, where the preset command is configured based on a difference between a source virtualization platform and the destination virtualization platform. According to the foregoing method, the image file of the to-be-migrated virtual machine is processed by executing the preset command, so that automatic migration of the image file of the to-be-migrated virtual machine can be implemented, and a user does not need to perform a manual operation. This effectively improves migration efficiency and meets a user requirement.
