    Abstract: The invention provides a process for preparing alkylene glycol diethers of the formula (I) by reacting compounds of the formula (II) in which R1 is hydrogen or C1- to C3-alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, CH3 or CH2CH3, and n is from 1 to 4, in the liquid phase in the presence of catalysts at temperatures between 170 and 300° C., and continuously distilling off the compounds of the formula (I).
