    Abstract: A spill-resistant drinking vessel includes a body; a lid housing securable to the body and having a top surface from which a lid seal flange extends downwardly on one side, further having a straw orifice and a vent orifice passing through the lid housing; a vent and seal plate having an integral vent valve and an integral liquid valve and further having a plate seal flange on one side; wherein the first and plate seal flanges are configured to engage with one another to provide a seal between the lid housing and the seal and vent plate; and wherein the vent orifice and the integral vent valve are in fluid communication with one another.     Abstract: A straw adapter for coupling a straw to a water bottle lid is provided. The straw adapter may receive the straw in a cavity, and a protrusion of the straw adapter may be received by the lid. Retaining rings circumscribing the cavity and the protrusion may provide for frictional coupling. The straw adapter may include a valve comprising a plurality of self-sealing flaps. The self-sealing flaps may be configured to open or close in response to pressure changes. As such, when the self-sealing flaps are oriented vertically, the valve may allow fluid to flow through the straw adapter. Conversely, when the self-sealing flaps are oriented horizontally, the valve may impede fluid from flowing through the straw adapter. Thus, the straw adapter may help to limit unintentional spills.

The seal member may be overmolded into a lid of the bottle such that the seal chemically and mechanically bonds to the lid. Overmolding the seal member eliminates gaps that could form between the seal and the lid, thus enhancing the cleanability of the seal member and the lid.

The inner liner has an inner sidewall, an inner bottom, and an inner lip, and the outer body has an outer sidewall and an outer lip. The inner and outer lips are affixed together with an affixation or weld having a first melt point. A plenum is enclosed between the inner liner and the outer body by affixing an outer bottom to the outer body and creating a vacuum at least partially in the plenum using a seal having a second melt point. This second melt point can be about 450° C. and 500° C. The coating is painted to an inside surface of the inner liner, and the painted coating is cured with a temperature level at least below the first and second melt points.
