  • Patent number: 10719597
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are directed to the use of controlled randomization in authorizing virtual reality interactions. More specifically, a user of a virtual reality (VR) device may seek to initiate an interaction within the virtual reality environment. In order for the interaction to be allowed for the user, a processing computer may need the user to supply an additional credential. In some cases, the user may enter the additional credential using a series of virtual keypads that are rendered in the virtual reality environment. These keypads may have varying layouts that are determined in a controlled manner (e.g., pseudo-randomly) using pre-determined mathematical procedures. The layout of a subsequent keypad may be partially based on the user's selection in a preceding keypad. The keypad positions for the user's selections may be provided to the processing computer to solve for the credential which can be used for validation purposes.

  • Publication number: 20200105053
Abstract: Systems and methods for collaborative illumination estimation for mobile mixed-reality devices are provided. Embodiments described herein compose an illumination estimate using video data capturing an environment which includes a reflective object, such as a light probe. Radiance samples are computed from light reflections from the reflective object, which are then interpolated to compose a realistic estimation of physical lighting of the environment. Robust illumination estimation is provided in a computationally efficient manner, supplying real-time updates to facilitate integration with augmented reality (AR) systems and other image processing applications. The computational efficiency of this approach allows for implementation in lower-resource environments, such as mobile devices. In some examples, multiple devices can collaborate to capture the environment from different viewpoints and enhance realism and fidelity in their illumination estimates.

  • Patent number: 10546557
Abstract: Overlay and screen recording techniques are described that enables separate recordings of a screen and one or more overlays that were displayed on the screen during recording. In one example, pixel values of an overlay are blended with pixel values of a screen to paint the overlay onto the screen in a transparent manner that is imperceptible to the human eye but allows for original screen pixel values to be recovered from areas of the screen that were visually occluded by the overlay. This enables a user to display recording controls and visual cues on their screen without having to worry about the overlay visually occluding any screen content during the recording. One or both of the separately recorded screen and overlay streams can then be output for playback to enable viewing of the individual streams without loss in quality or content of the individual streams.

  • Publication number: 20200004221
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for tool life management and monitoring in a CNC environment. The invention employs an indirect method that measures tool wear effect on size change of jobs. After every measurement of the job, the tool wear is calculated by a set of advanced algorithms and this value is sent to a file where it adds to a previous value. When the sum of all these tool wear values equals that of the maximum allowable wear for that type of tool insert, a signal is generated to indicate that tool insert life is over and it should be replaced. Advantageously, the invention ensures that life of each edge of the insert is fully utilized and also identifies when an edge is worn out (its useful life is over).
