  • Patent number: 9921566
Abstract: Fabricating a component is accomplished by operating a metrology system to obtain physical characteristics for an environment in which the component is to be installed. The physical characteristics for the environment are then transferred to a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and the component is fabricated to be compatible with the physical characteristics of the environment using the CNC machine.

  • Patent number: 9381581
Abstract: An end mill may include a body elongated along an axis of rotation, the body may include a shank end and a cutting end opposite the shank end, the cutting end having a cutting diameter and defining a pair of helical flutes that form a first helical cutting tooth and a second helical cutting tooth, wherein each of the first cutting tooth and the second cutting tooth includes a peripheral cutting edge, an end cutting edge, a chamfer cutting edge extending from the peripheral cutting edge to the end cutting edge, and a rake face at least partially bounded by the end cutting edge and the chamfer cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 9213786
Abstract: Manufacturing systems and methods are disclosed. In one example, a computer based system comprises a non-transitory computer readable memory, a processor, and logic instructions stored in the non-transitory computer readable memory. When executed by the processor, the logic instructions configure the processor to perform operations, comprising receiving a first digital map of a first component and a second digital map of a second component, defining a first surface on the first component and a second surface on the second component, wherein at least a portion of the first surface is to adjoin at least a portion of the second surface in a manufactured assembly, updating a first part definition for the first component to include the first surface and, optionally, updating a second part definition for the second component to include the second surface.

  • Patent number: 8245410
Abstract: A method and system are provided for projecting a virtual cutting tool. A housing has a longitudinal axis and includes a first opening and a second opening. A first laser is housed within the first opening and is disposed to emit a first visible light that is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. A second laser is housed within the second opening and is disposed to emit a second visible light that is non-parallel to the longitudinal axis such that the second visible light intersects the first visible light at a predetermined distance from the housing.
