  • Publication number: 20220325991
Abstract: A liner for a shaped charge, the liner being a generally conical liner, in which the liner is formed from metal or metal alloy and in which the liner has an internal apex angle in the range of approximately 105-110 degrees.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 7, 2020
    Publication date: October 13, 2022
    Applicant: Alford IP Limited
    Inventors: Roland ALFORD, Sidney ALFORD
  • Patent number: 9746292
Abstract: Container (10) is generally cylindrical except for a longitudinal concave groove (11) extending along its entire length. Upon explosion, the contour of this groove (11) results in a focussing effect on the wall material due to the oblique angle at which the expanding cylindrical detonation wave front impacts upon its inner wall. This produces the forging of a rough rod-like projectile (111) which, being coherent, maintains its velocity and consequently travels much further than the randomly shaped projectiles (101).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 2014
Date of Patent: August 29, 2017
    Assignee: ALFORD RESEARCH LIMITED
    Inventors: Roland Alford, Sidney Alford
  • Patent number: 9322624
Abstract: A liquid-jacketed disrupter comprising a container (101) for receiving liquid and housing a receptacle (120) for explosive material, in which the container comprises one or more indentations (115) which result in the generation of liquid jets upon detonation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 2010
Date of Patent: April 26, 2016
    Assignee: Alford Research Limited

  • Publication number: 20050081706
Abstract: A plurality of embodiments of disruptor all have a container with an enclosure for explosive material with a wall which can he located in any one of a number of different positions using one or more tubular spacers (12) optionally of various sizes thereby to provide a wide range of capacity of enclosure and hence explosive material.

  • Patent number: 5341742
Abstract: A firing arrangement for initiating a secondary explosive includes a switch, a charge storage circuit for storing an electrical charge, a power supply for charging the charge storage circuit, an initiator electrically connected to the charge storage circuit through the switch, for directly initiating the secondary explosive, and a common unit. The common unit is hand held during initiation and houses the initiator and at least one of the switch, the charge storage circuit, and the power supply. The common unit includes a manual activator for causing discharge of the charge storage circuit through the switch and initiator, to directly initiate the secondary explosive.
