  • Patent number: 4317599
Abstract: A cross-drilled lubrication collar clamped co-axially alongside a generally conventional self-contained sealed bearing sprocket-idler assembly of a conveyor in an agricultural machine permits supplementary lubrication of the idler bearing from an external source in situ without disassembling the bearing. Clearance between the bores of the lubrication collar and the idler inner race and the spindle supporting the two elements and providing means for clamping them together, permits lubricant introduced by way of the cross-drilling in the collar to flow along the spindle and, by way of a cross-drilling in the inner race of the idler bearing, to the bearing surfaces themselves.

  • Patent number: 4300335
Abstract: A multi-row corn head has a plurality of forwardly extending dividers that move between adjacent rows of row-planted crops, and each divider includes a hood-like downwardly and forwardly inclined shield structure that tapers to a forward gathering point. A shield extension is removably mounted on each of the inner dividers adjacent to the point where the ears of corn are stripped from the stalks to prevent the loss of ears off the front of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4300333
Abstract: The cross auger of a corn head for a combine is made up of two independent identical but opposite-hand auger sections, each separately driven and with their inner ends sharing a common central suspension member. The inner end of each section includes a bearing plate which abuts its respective side of the suspension member and engages a pair of support ledges for support and location. A single fastener locks the two auger sections in position. A common central annular shield axially overlaps the inner ends of the tubes of both auger sections. An upper portion of the shield is easily removable to permit the inner end of either auger section to be lifted out of engagement with the support hanger without disturbing the remaining auger section.
