    Abstract: The present subject matter includes method and apparatus for an insulating layer applied to a battery to effectively increase the insulated separation between the anode and cathode contact surfaces of the battery. This increase in effective separation between anode and cathode decreases the probability that moisture applied to the battery will cause substantial ohmic conductivity between the anode and the cathode. Consequently, fewer batteries will be prematurely depleted or destroyed by moisture and fewer devices holding those batteries will need repair. The present subject matter serves to prevent or eliminate discharge of corrosive battery chemicals due to moisture and operating in wet environments. The life of batteries and devices using the present subject matter is thus extended.     Abstract: An electrical connector assembly for use in environmentally challenging locations. The electrical connector assembly comprises a receptacle connector member, a plug connector member and a coupling nut that interface to provide dual radial seals so as to define dual contaminant barriers. The dual radial seals substantially eliminate the possibility of particulate as well as moisture and water intrusion. Each connector member is individually potted to a wire to eliminate the potential for water wicking up the wire while transferring the wire pull strength to the connector member. The electrical connector can include a security seal to provide visual indication of any tampering with the electrical connector assembly. Each connector member can include a protective cover allowing the connector members to be stored for extended periods of time without degradation.

In one example embodiment, the enclosure includes a base unit, cover that is press-fit into the base unit and a collar that has interlocking ends that compressively secure the base and cover together. The enclosure assembly further includes a seal member or O-ring that is interposed between bearing surfaces of the lid and base to promote a waterproof seal.
