  • Publication number: 20120109005
Abstract: An apparatus (4) is disclosed adapted to diagnose disorders related to the brain of a subject. The apparatus comprises a display (42) for presenting stimuli to said subject, a microphone (46) for registering a sound signal, and a control unit adapted to measure a pause time until articulation of the subject starts in a said sound signal for naming presented stimuli as quickly as possible and in an order as previously presented. Components of said pause time are analyzed for diagnostic support of neuropsychiatric disorders, in particular neurodevelopmental disorders, or brain damage induced disorders. An adjustment of medication dosage or medication type to individual patient needs may be made based on the measurement.

  • Publication number: 20050208460
Abstract: A method for testing for a parietal lobe function deficiency, an occipital lobe function deficiency, and a developmental language disorder in a subject includes displaying to a subject ordered arrays of objects having features in a plurality of dimensions, which the subject is prompted to name. The named features are compared with the correct object features, and a count is maintained of errors and an interval taken to complete the naming process. These numbers are compared with predetermined data to determine possible deficiencies.

  • Patent number: 6884078
Abstract: A test, system, and method for testing parietal lobe function in a subject, wherein the method includes displaying to a subject a first ordered array of objects having a variety of colors, which the subject is prompted to name. The named object colors are compared with the correct object colors, and a count is maintained of errors in the named object colors and an interval taken by the subject to complete naming the object colors, these numbers compared with predetermined data for determining a possible parietal lobe function deficiency. An analogous test is performed of shape-naming, and, in a preferred embodiment, of color and shape naming. A practice test administration is also described, as well as a software-driven administration and scoring of the test.
