    Abstract: The invention relates to a spinal navigation method. The method comprises the steps of providing a MRI, X-ray or CT based two-dimensional image of the spine of a subject and generating an ultrasound two-dimensional image using an ultrasound imaging device on the spine of said subject. Further, the method comprises the steps of matching the ultrasound two-dimensional image to the MRI, X-ray or CT based two-dimensional image, and relating a pre-specified segment of a spinal profile in the MRI, X-ray or CT based two-dimensional image to a corresponding segment in the ultrasound two-dimensional image.
