  • Patent number: 4688474
Abstract: Described is a coffee percolator comprising a brewing section disposed within a housing and provided with coffee meal filling means. The housing includes a cover plate and at least two coffee meal supply containers projecting through the cover plate to the exterior of the housing and formed with discharge openings positioned above the filling means. Also described is a coffee percolator having at least two coffee meal supply containers projecting upwards through the cover plate, the supply containers each having identically configured sidewalls and a bottom connected to the sidewall by fastener means permitting the bottom to be secured at two different positions in mirror-reflection alignment.

  • Patent number: 4633771
Abstract: In a coffee percolator having a brewing section, different operating positions are controlled by a control piston driven by a motor by the action of suitable control means. The control piston moves through a coffee meal supply opening and a coffee-grounds flushing opening, both of which are provided in said brewing section, for selectively or contemporaneously opening and closing these openings in the different operating positions. In a brewing position the control piston closes both openings, so that an overpressure is generated within the brewing section. Subsequent to the brewing operation this overpressure is relieved in a relief position by opening the flushing opening while said supply opening remains closed. The relief position is succeeded by a flushing position, in which the supply opening is likewise opened, so that the exhausted coffee-grounds can be flushed out.

  • Patent number: 4583449
Abstract: The invention relates to a coffee percolator for selectively making normal coffee or espresso, comprising a water flow path extending between a cold water supply inlet and a brewing unit, said flow path being divided into a first branch including a pressure pump, and a second branch including a valve adapted to close or be closed in the espresso making mode, and further comprising control means for activating said valve(s) and/or said pump in response to the selection of the type of coffee to be made. The invention is directed towards the provision of a coffee percolator of this type, which is of simplyfied and economic construction and substantially failure-proof. This is achieved by providing that the flow path is employed in common for the water used for making espresso and normal coffee, and is only divided adjacent the pump into the first flow path branch including the pump and the second flow path branch forming a bypass across the pump.

  • Patent number: 4200039
Abstract: A coffee machine comprising a pressure-tight boiler having a hot water tank and a cold water tank having a volume at least about half the volume of said hot water tank, a heater located in the hot water tank, a filter chamber, a discharge line connected to the filter chamber, an ascending tube running from the bottom of the hot water tank to the inlet end of said discharge line, hot water being forced up through said ascending tube after heating of the water by a buildup of pressure in said boiler, the hot water passing into the discharge line and to the filter chamber, said cold water tank communicating with said hot water tank in an upper region of said boiler and also through a connection near the bottom thereof so that as the hot water is forced out of the hot water tank, cold water will flow into the hot water tank from the cold water tank, the connection controlling the quantity of cold water supplied to thereby controlling the maximum temperature of the hot water and substantially preventing heat from
