  • Patent number: 6588196
Abstract: As the development of gas and steam turbine systems has progressed, the steam turbine section, in particular, has become highly sophisticated and complex by being configured as a three-pressure system. In order to make a gas and steam turbine system of economic interest for medium and low power levels as well, and with high efficiencies, the steam turbine section is configured as a two-pressure system, and the combustion air for the system is compressed in at least two stages. In the process, the combustion air is cooled after at least one compression stage, and is heated at least after the last stage of the two stages.

  • Patent number: 6233917
Abstract: A method of controlling the temperature of intake air provided from outside air passing through an air-feed system only utilizes an especially low heating of the intake air while at the same time safely avoiding the formation of ice in the intake air, in order to avoid efficiency losses. A temperature setpoint formed by the sum of the dew point of the outside air and an additive margin of safety is preselected for the intake air. A temperature setpoint of not more than the sum of 0° C. and the margin of safety is advantageously preselected. A temperature-control device for carrying out the method and a gas turbine having the temperature-control device are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6062814
Abstract: A transition element between components of a flue-gas duct of a gas turbine includes a first heat-insulation element for reducing material stresses between the components during operation of the gas turbine. The thickness of the heat-insulation element varies as a function of a spatial variable along the flue-gas duct, to set a prescribed temperature profile in a transition region. A second heat-insulation element is provided for permitting a transition from an internally insulated component to an externally insulated component. The thickness of the second heat-insulation element varies in the opposite direction to the thickness of the first heat-insulation element.

  • Patent number: 6050084
Abstract: A flue-gas duct of a gas and steam-turbine plant is constructed in such a way that reliable sound absorption is ensured with especially simple provisions, even when using internally insulated duct pieces, in particular an internally insulated waste-heat boiler. The flue-gas duct includes a duct piece having a number of sound-absorber gates. At least one sound-absorber gate has a displacement nose disposed upstream thereof on the flue-gas side. A gas-switch module having a displaceable shut-off damper is disposed downstream of the duct piece which is constructed as a sound-absorber module, on the flue-gas side. The shut-off damper includes first and second substantially mutually perpendicularly oriented shut-off plates.
