  • Patent number: 6322759
Abstract: An ozonizer is disclosed, having a first electrode and a second electrode between which a discharge gap is formed, a dielectric being arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode. The dielectric comprises a support element made of glass or glass ceramic, onto which a thin dielectric film on the order of up to 100 &mgr;m is applied. The use of glass or glass ceramic as the dielectric, in conjunction with an additional thin ceramic dielectric film, allows a considerable improvement in the ozone concentration in the carrier gas, simultaneously with a good ozone yield.

  • Patent number: 4442611
Abstract: To effectively seal the atmosphere within a chamber against ambient atmosphere, particularly for drying or curing of printing ink by UV radiation, vacuum drying, or the like, a pair of plates (12, 13; 33, 34) are positioned contiguous with a pass-through slit formed in a side wall (6) of the chamber, the plates being formed with recesses, grooves or depressions (7-11; 29) extending transversely to movement of the paper web. Ambient air is conducted at the lateral sides to the recesses or grooves which, preferably, in cross section are circular and formed as semicircular grooves in the respective plates, and suction is applied essentially centrally, with respect to the width of the web (2, 40) by suction pumps (19, 23) which may apply an increading degree of vacuum to the recesses as the wall (6) of the chamber is approached.

  • Patent number: 4187968
Abstract: To provide for automatic threading of a paper web throughout an entire printing press equipped with a press threading mechanism, and also over the folding former thereof, two paper guide baffles are located at the back side of the folding former extending in converging direction from the edges of the former to the tip thereof and up to the nip between a pair of take-up rollers located below, and adjacent the tip of the former. Air pressure differential generating means, typically air blast nozzles are directed towards the guide baffles to generate an under pressure adjacent to surfaces thereof which will pull paper downwardly into the nip between the take-up rollers. The take-up rollers themselves have a knurled, or ribbed surface and are driven by air blasts directed against the ribbing of the surface, to move paper which is guided over the folding former by the air blasts away and through the former mechanism.
