  • Patent number: 6241232
Abstract: An apparatus (1) for folding a textile fabric length (11) is provided with at least two transport belts (2, 3) which can be driven in opposite directions, wherein a gap (27) is disposed between the transport belts (2, 3), through which gap the fabric length (11) can be drawn while forming a fold when the transport belts (2, 3) are driven in opposite directions. In order to achieve greater folding accuracy, a gripping member (4) is disposed above the two transport belts (2, 3), which member can move substantially parallel to the upper side of the transport belts (2, 3) and can be brought to lie between the front and the back end (12, 23) of the unfolded fabric length (11) with a fixing action.

  • Patent number: 6155188
Abstract: A device for mechanically turning over at least one longitudinal edge of a continuous fabric web is provided with a conveyor for conveying the fabric web in the direction of the longitudinal edge and at least one edge turning device (1). The edge turning device (1) has two guide elements (2, 3), which can each be applied to one side of the fabric web in the region of a longitudinal edge section. An inner guide element (2) includes a convex guide surface (14) and the outer guide element (3) includes a matching concave guide surface (15). The opposing guide surfaces (14, 15) of the two guide elements (2, 3) are arranged in the edge turning device (1) so as to form a gap (10), whose width is at least slightly larger than the thickness of the fabric web in the region of the longitudinal edges. As the fabric web is drawn through the gap (10), the longitudinal edge of the fabric web is turned over in the desired manner.

  • Patent number: 5031553
Abstract: With a method for completely automatic products of fitted sheets, elastic bands are sewn into or onto the cut edges (transverse edges), and the lengths of the elastic bands correspond approximately to the widths of the pieces of fabric. Then the widths of the pieces of fabric are measured and, dependent upon the results of this measurement, a piece of fabric is positioned in the middle or symmetrically in relation to the sewing needles of four sewing devices for formation of the corner seams, and the needles are provided in pairs facing each cut edge (transverse edge) of a piece of fabric at a corner processing station. Thereafter, the piece of fabric is hemmed in the corner of processing station parallel to its cut edges (transverse edges) and the hems of the piece of fabric are fixed.

  • Patent number: 4993334
Abstract: In a sewing station, an alignment device is provided in the delivery area from a first conveyance device to a second conveyance device and, seen from the direction of movement of the piece of material, before a processing station. The alignment device has alignment strips which may be raised and lowered and which are also horizontally adjustable. The strips are controlled by sensing elements sensing the arrangement of the front edges of the pieces of material and placed on the piece of material. In accordance with the oblique position of the forward moving edge of the piece of material, the alignment strips are moved together with the piece of material in the direction of conveyance or counter to the direction of conveyance, and this continues until the oblique position of the forward moving edge is corrected or lies within the allowable tolerance. After such alignment, the second conveyance device conveys the piece of material to the processing station.

  • Patent number: 4941418
Abstract: A sewing installation for fabric articles, comprising a first material handling device which transfers the fabric articles from a stockpile to a second material handling device having endless conveyor belts. A lifting device is provided for raising the conveyor belts for the introduction of the fabric articles over a portion of their length and for lowering the conveyor belts for the pick-up and further conveyance of the fabric articles to at least one sewing machine. The lifting device comprises movable lifting elements which engage from below in turn on the bottom drums of the conveyor belts. The lifting elements are arranged so taht they can be moved back and forth substantially parallel to the conveyor belts and can be driven in the direction of conveyance when in a raised state and in the opposite direction when in a lowered state.

  • Patent number: 4754717
Abstract: To produce pillow cases, bed sheets or like covers 10 fully automatically, a first transporting device 17 for the sections 24 cut off a supply of fabric 16 is provided in a sewing arrangement which supplies the sections 24 to a folding station 28. There each section of fabric 24 is folded over an aligning plate 32 by means of a folding bar 29 which can be moved back and forth. Above said aligning plate 32, a device 36 for the edge alignment of each folded section of fabric 24 is provided which is controllable in respect to the respective offset of the two layers 31, 33 of the folded section of fabric 24. A second transporting device 60 takes up the folded and aligned sections of fabric 24 and transports them to a first sewing station 61 where the two layers 31, 33 of the sections of fabric 24 are sewn together along two aligned edges.

  • Patent number: 4748922
Abstract: In order to mechanically prefabricate fitted elastic bedsheets of such dimensions that the manual work steps still required for completion of the fitted elastic bedsheets can be carried out efficiently in a short time, a device is provided which includes a first conveyor device for a strip of cloth, from which the individual fitted elastic bedsheets are cut. The first conveyor device intermittently draws lengths of the strip corresponding to the cut lengths of the fitted elastic bedsheets from a supply. A cutting device is provided at the end of the first conveyor device. At a right angle to first conveyor device is arranged a second device for the pieces of cloth which are cut by cutting device from strip of cloth.

  • Patent number: 4682555
Abstract: In order to be able to execute the commercial production of fitted elastic bedsheets from a strip of cloth, markings are applied to the strip of cloth, which determine the attachment points for stretched elastic bands, the transverse cutting lines on the strip of cloth and the seams at the corners of each piece of cloth to be cut from the strip of cloth. The stretched elastic bands are sewn on or in the edges of the strip of cloth, while the strip of cloth is being moved in the lengthwise direction and is held in a flat state. Then individual pieces of cloth are cut from the strip of cloth. The stretched elastic bands then are sewn on or in the two edges of the pieces of cloth being moved transverse to the length of the strip of cloth, which corresponds to the cut edges. With this sewing process, the pieces of cloth are likewise held in a flat state.

  • Patent number: 4615287
Abstract: A device for the finishing of at least one lengthwise edge of a sheet of material, which at least on the one lengthwise edge has a lengthwise strip which is thinner than the remainder of the sheet of material, in that the finished lengthwise edge runs parallel to the lengthwise edge of the sheet to the side bordering the different material thicknesses, and at least two scanning devices are provided, responsive to the variations of thickness of the sheet. One scanning device is arranged to scan the lengthwise strips of the sheet which are thinner and the other scanning device is arranged to scan the sheet in its area of greater thickness. The two scanning devices are positioned transverse to the direction of movement of the sheet and are spaced so that they normally scan the sheet close to the lengthwise edge thereof, on the side bordering the different material thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 4493234
Abstract: A device for straightening a distorted strip article, particularly a textile strip having a marking thread or the like, and for cutting along a stitch or print line of the strip article. A plurality of movable straightening elements are arranged transverse to the length of the strip article and are movable into engagement with the strip and adjustable by a transport device in the longitudinal direction of the strip article. The straightening elements 18 are movable longitudinally and into engagement with the strip article independently of each other. A sensor device controls the movement of the straightening elements in response to control signals produced by the marking thread. The transport device is disposed transversely to the length of the strip article in the area of the marking thread.
