    Abstract: A heat insulating structure of ceramic material for high temperatures is made up of a plurality of reflective layers in order to provide protection against the action of heat for short periods of time. The reflective layers are made up of a substrate of impregnated, fired ceramic fiber and a noble metal layer. The heat insulating structure is made up of a plurality of such parallel spaced reflective layers.

    Abstract: A method for the production of soot filters using felt-like or other bats as filter elements, which are made up of loose refractory fibers. In order to bond the fibers together and to anchor then in place, the filter element made up of the fibers is coated by CVD or precipitation from a solution to give an amorphous coating. The coating is also refractory. It bonds the fibers together at their crossovers.
