  • Patent number: 7454949
Abstract: A gas sensor, whose purpose is to determine a physical property of a measuring gas, e.g., to determine the concentration of a gas component or the temperature of an exhaust gas. The gas sensor includes a sensor element arranged in a metal housing which is sealed by at least one sealing element arranged in a metal receptacle. The metal receptacle is affixed to the housing. The sealing element surrounds the sensor element in a centered position along its longitudinal extension L or on its half facing the measuring gas.

  • Patent number: 6758082
Abstract: A gas sensor includes a sensor element for determining at least one physical quantity of a gas, e.g., for determining the concentration of a gas component in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine or the temperature of the exhaust gas. The sensor element is fixed in position by the sealing system in a housing of the gas sensor. The sealing system includes at least one sealing element, which includes a mixture of a ceramic material and a glass. The hemisphere temperature of the glass is above 750° Celsius.

  • Patent number: 6070459
Abstract: A method for determining the adhesion of material layers of any composition on sintered ceramic elements, in particular of material layers on sensor elements for determining gas constituents in gas mixtures. The coated ceramic elements are immersed in an immersion bath consisting of a protic acid, and then subjected to a shock-type heat treatment. Adhesion is then assessed.

  • Patent number: 5670032
Abstract: An electro-chemical measuring sensor (10) for determining the oxygen content of gases, in particular for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, with a potential-free disposed sensor element (14). The sensor element (14) has an oxygen-ion-conducting solid electrolyte body (23), preferably in the shape of a pipe or tube closed at one end, which has an exterior electrode (25) disposed on the exterior surface with a strip conductor (27) on the side toward the contact and also extending on the exterior surface, and which is inserted by means of a sealing ring (20) in a metal housing (11). The sensor element (14) has an electrically insulating layer (21) at least in the area of the sealing ring (20), which covers at least the strip conductor (27) in the direction toward the housing (11). The insulating layer (21) is formed from a mixture of a crystalline, non-metallic material and a glass-forming material.
