  • Patent number: 4818213
Abstract: The present invention provides a multiple platen-multiple position press or injection blow molding apparatus for use in the blow molding of containers in which a preform is molded onto a core and is moved relative to the core to space a body portion of the preform from the core when the core is in the blowing station to facilitate the temperature conditioning of the preform to achieve a desired biorientation of the thermoplastic material from which the preform is made when the preform is blow molded to form a container. The temperature conditioning may be achieved by allowing stabilization of the temperature gradient through the material of the preform with or without the assistance of a supply of gas to the preform at a desired temperature.

  • Patent number: 4333629
Abstract: This relates to a manifold construction for multi-cavity molds. The manifold is joined to a primary sprue by a transverse supply tube which is transversely telescoped relative to an associated manifold so as to permit relative transverse movement between the supply tube and the manifold. The manifold also carries longitudinally extending delivery tubes each of which is mounted for relative longitudinal movement between the manifold and an associated cavity. The manifold is generally positioned between the supply tube and the delivery tube which permits floating of the manifold relative to the various cavities of the mold and the primary sprue.

  • Patent number: 4108324
Abstract: A container formed of synthetic resinous material having a bottom structure the outer surface of which comprises a central concavity and a convex heel, the heel surrounding the concavity and merging therewith and with the container sidewall. A plurality of hollow convex ribs, distributed in a symmetrical array, interrupt the outer surface of the concavity and merge smoothly therewith, each rib extending longitudinally in the direction of the heel and downwardly from an inner portion of the concavity. The wall of the bottom structure generally decreases in thickness progressively from the innermost point of the concavity to the sidewall.
