  • Patent number: 5256109
Abstract: The invention concerns a drive device (7) with variable transmission ratio for driving an auxiliary aggregate of a motor vehicle. A belt pulley (11) of the drive device (7) has a chamber (38) connected to a reservoir (30) of a hydraulic medium. The centrifugal action of the hydraulic medium contained in the chamber (38) is used to change the speed of the driven shaft (13). By applying a supporting pressure to the chamber (38), it is possible additionally to vary the output speed of the drive device (7).

  • Patent number: 5133325
Abstract: In a mechanical drive mechanism for a supercharger of an internal combusion engine, a rotor fastened to a rotor shaft is driven by the internal combustion engine's crankshaft, an electromagnetically activated separating clutch and a step-up gear. To create favorable structural dimensions of the supercharger drive mechanism in axial and radial extension and a favorable support for an input shaft of the step-up gear, the step-up gear is a planetary gear, with the input shaft supported in an axially projecting collar on the transmission case and the electromagnetically activated separating clutch located on the periphery of that collar. A clutch disk is to be located on one side of this bearing and a ring gear is to be located on the input shaft on the other side.

  • Patent number: 5105793
Abstract: In a mechanical driving mechanism of a supercharger (1) for an internal combustion engine, which, starting from the internal combustion engine, acts on a rotor shaft (12) of a rotor (14) located on a supercharger housing through a planetary gear assembly (3) that is geared up, a compact construction of the driving mechanism and a balancing out of vibration between a primary shaft (2) and the rotor shaft (12) can be achieved. For that purpose, a ring gear (6) is propelled by the primary shaft (2), while the rotor shaft (12) that receives a sun wheel (8) is accommodated in a hub part (15) of a pinion cage (16) of the planetary gear assembly (3).

  • Patent number: 5063904
Abstract: In a mechanically driven supercharger (1) whose rotor (6) is propelled by an internal combustion engine by way of a primary shaft (2), a planet gear (8) that is geared up and a rotor shaft (7), the working life of a support (11, 12) for the rotor shaft (7) is increased. For that purpose, the support floats with radial play (17) and axial play (19) in a fixed housing section (10) of the supercharger (1).

  • Patent number: 4718523
Abstract: The magnet body (11, 12, 13, 17) is composed of the winding (13) with U-shaped arrangement of separate parts, wherein specially the side leg portions (11, 12) are radially held together by a plastic shell (14) that also insulates the winding (13) and which grips into the spaces of the arrangement of side leg portions (11, 12) with projections (15), which are axially penetrated by spacer sleeves (8) or bolts (9) and eventually also individual pressure springs (18). The expenses of molding and fine processing for the conventional magnet are spared or greatly reduced and the assembly is also simplified in different respects.

  • Patent number: 4402374
Abstract: An individual-wheel drive apparatus including an electric motor is disclosed. A two-stage planetary gear arrangement couples the motor to the wheel. The hollow gear of the planetary gear arrangement is fastened to the end bell of the motor. The outside surface of the hollow gear serves as the inner bearing race for the bearing of the wheel hub.

  • Patent number: 4388973
Abstract: A direct drive for a drill bit in a drill string has a fluid-operated motor within a drive section connected by a gear section to a bearing section whose inner tube is coupled to the drill bit to accommodate axial displacement of the drill bit within the outer tube, spring elements are braced against a radial bearing for the inner tube which has at least one axially defined race. The coupling between the inner tube and the gearing also accommodates such axial displacement and a reservoir for oil is located between the drive and gear sections so that oil can be fed to the gearing, the bearings and to an axial bearing in an annular oil-filled space between the drive and gear sections.

  • Patent number: 4387794
Abstract: An electromagnetic single-surface clutch/brake combination, especially for textile machinery, in which a rotor assembly is locked to the shaft end encloses the magnetic body carrying the coils so that the latter can be secured to the housing flange when the unit, as delivered, is mounted on the shaft. The rotor assembly and the magnetic body are bridged by a bearing.
