  • Patent number: 6422046
Abstract: A latch needle includes a shank; a hook formed at an end of the shank and having a hook tip; and a latch pivotally supported by the shank and cooperating with the hook. The latch has a closed state and a reverse state. In the closed state the hook and the latch together define a closed trapping space and in the reverse state the hook defines an open trapping space constituted essentially by an inner hook space. The latch includes an inner contour facing the trapping space in the closed state, a free end lying on the hook in the closed state and a stepped portion formed on the inner latch contour and adjoining the free latch end.

  • Patent number: 5901582
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool, such as a latch needle, has, on its shank, a lubricant distributing arrangement formed on at least one of the opposite broad shank faces for collecting a lubricant therein during operation of the knitting tool. The lubricant distributing arrangement is constituted by a region of reduced shank thickness extending transversely to the shank length from a distance from the upper shank edge at least substantially to the lower shank edge. The region of reduced shank thickness may be a chamfer, a recess or a depression.

  • Patent number: 5619868
Abstract: A springbeard needle includes a shank having opposite ends, an upper edge, a lower edge and two opposite side faces; a head formed at one of the shank ends; a springbeard extending from the head and being oriented towards the upper shank edge; and a groove provided in the shank. The groove extends from the upper shank edge and is open at one of the side faces. An end portion of the springbeard projects into the groove from the upper shank edge. The groove has a longitudinal axis which forms an acute angle with the lower shank edge and which is oriented towards the head as viewed in a direction from the lower shank edge to the upper shank edge.

  • Patent number: 5609045
Abstract: A knitting needle includes a shank, a needle hook carried by the shank at one end thereof, and a sawslot provided in the shank. The sawslot is bordered by elastically deformable shank cheeks which are provided by upper supporting surfaces. The sawslot has a throughgoing aperture which is open toward the shank back. A latch rivet traverses the sawslot and is supported in the shank cheeks. A needle latch having a latch back provided with engagement faces is pivotally supported by the latch rivet for swinging motions between a closed position in which the needle latch engages the needle hook and an open position in which the engagement faces on the latch back lie on the supporting surfaces of the shank cheeks. The sawslot has, in a series as viewed from needle hook, a first sawslot portion containing the throughgoing aperture and a second sawslot portion having a width greater than the width of the first sawslot portion.

  • Patent number: 5509280
Abstract: A latch needle for textile machines has a needle shank having a longitudinal slot formed therein. The needle shank includes a needle hook located at one end of the needle shank, and two opposing shank cheeks each defining a lateral side of the longitudinal slot. A latch is pivotably disposed in the longitudinal slot. The latch has a bearing bore, and at least one annular ring projecting laterally outward from the latch and surrounding the bearing bore. A bearing device is attached to at least one of the shank cheeks and in communication with the bearing bore for pivotably seating the latch.

  • Patent number: 5090218
Abstract: A latch needle for machines producing knit goods includes a needle shank having a slot, a needle head, and a latch. The needle shank has a first longitudinal plane of symmetry and the slot has a second longitudinal plane of symmetry. The latch is pivotably supported in the slot in the needle shank so as to be pivotable about a latch axis extending transversely to the second longitudinal plane of symmetry of the slot. The second longitudinal plane of symmetry intersects the first longitudinal plane of symmetry at an acute angle.
