  • Patent number: 9239116
Abstract: The invention relates to a radial shaft seal for sealing a shaft (2), which is guided through a housing wall opening (3). The seal comprises at least one first membrane-like, annular sealing element (15) with a sealing lip (22) which can be positioned against the shaft (2) in a sealing manner; a metallic, annular supporting element (16), onto which the sealing element (15) is pulled; and a centring surface (19) formed at the outer circumference of the edge area (18). In order to increase the lifespan of the seal, said seal can be surrounded by an adapter part (6) made from undulating curved sheet metal, which can be inserted flush into the housing wall opening (3). The adapter part (6) has a central, cylindrical opening (8) which is provided with a shoulder (11) at the rear end thereof in the compression direction. The centring surface (19) of the supporting body (16) has an allowance for the cylindrical opening (8) of the adapter part (6), and is pushed into said opening in a press-fitting manner.

  • Patent number: 7938405
Abstract: A radial shaft sealing ring, especially for use together with a CO2 containing pressure medium, comprises a membrane body (1) and a supporting body (2). A centering element (5) having a radially outer edge (6) is disposed on the supporting body (2) and is not covered by the membrane body (1). The membrane body (1), on its radially inner end, comprises a tilted sealing lip (11) which faces away from the supporting body (2). The supporting body (2) has an axial bore for the shaft (8) and, opposite the sealing lip (11), a supporting face (13) which slopes towards the wall (12) of the bore. The invention is characterized in that the centering element (5), when the radial shaft sealing ring is fitted in a bearing house (4), can be contacted with the interior of the bearing housing (4) in a press fit and that the angle (?) between the supporting face (13) and the wall (12) of the bore of the supporting body (2) ranges between 45° and 55° in a central plane which includes the axis of the radial shaft sealing ring.

  • Publication number: 20100237568
Abstract: A radial shaft seal for sealing a closed inner chamber (K), filled with a fluid medium (M), on a rotating shaft (W) that is guided out of the inner chamber (K) through a receiving opening (2), relative to an external atmosphere (A), has two membrane bodies (3, 4), each having a sealing membrane (5) having a sealing lip (6) positioned obliquely to the inner chamber (K), where the two sealing lips (6) can be positioned on the shaft (W) in sealing fashion at an axial distance from each other, and a supporting device (7) for supporting the membrane bodies (3, 4) resting thereon. To improve the service life and reduce the internal pressures, it is proposed that the two membrane bodies (3, 4) be positioned at a distance from each other over their entire course, and that the supporting device (7) includes a supporting body (8) located between the membrane bodies (3, 4).

  • Publication number: 20070210529
Abstract: On a radial shaft seal for sealing a closed internal space (20), filled with a fluid medium, on a rotating shaft (12) against the external atmosphere (30), comprising at least one membrane body (4) displaying a sealing membrane (8) with a sealing lip (9) that can be positioned in sealing fashion on the shaft (12) and is set obliquely to the internal space (20), where the side of the sealing membrane facing away from the internal space (20) is supported by a supporting element (3), the edge (3r) of which facing the shaft forms an annular gap with the latter, it is envisaged that at least the edge area (3r) of the supporting element (3) adjacent to the shaft (12) is made of a non-elastic plastic material, and that the width d of the annular gap (14) between the edge (3r) of the supporting element (3) and the shaft (12) is dimensioned in such a way that a pressure of 20 hPa at most can be achieved in the internal space (20) when pumping out the air from the internal space (20) against the air flowing in through

  • Patent number: 6736403
Abstract: In a known rotary shaft seal with two sealing lips, a first diaphragm body (20) with a first sealing lip (21) is mounted on a support element (22) and inserted in a second diaphragm body (23) with a second sealing lip (27) that rests against a pressure mount (24) and is mounted in the bearing mount (1). The object of the invention is to prevent the pressure medium from passing through the gap (26) between the two diaphragm bodies, which is open towards the pressure side, and ensure that the first diaphragm body can be displaced in the second along this gap. According to the invention, the first diaphragm body (2) is mounted on a support element (3) and inserted from the unpressurized side into the second diaphragm body (4), which serves to mount the seal in the bearing mount (1), reaches around a pressure mount (5) on the unpressurized side and secures it against axial movement.
