  • Patent number: 6106142
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiscrew, continuous mixing machine for plasticizable compounds with two screws, which rotate in the same direction in a housing and which penetrate the cylindrical part of the housing that envelopes the screws. The screws include axially spaced apart conveying sections and at least one mixing section therebetween. The conveying sections are formed by intermeshing conveying screws. The mixing section is formed by mixing elements. The mixing elements are followed by restricting elements which include short screw elements with back feed thread. The back feed thread forms a vertex, which progresses radially shortened along a thread in such a way that the radius of the vertex is shorter on the inlet side than on the outlet side and inbetween increases continuously towards the outlet side.

  • Patent number: 5814350
Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-cut pelletizer for thermoplastics having a housing which is designed as a hollow rotational body and the interior space of which is supplied with polymer melt, which is forced through channels passing radially through the housing wall and is cut into pellets by cutters which rotate in a substantially water-free space and slide over the openings of the channels along a cutting face running around the housing wall. The housing wall is surrounded by a ring of stationary cooling water nozzles, which direct cooling water jets onto the cutters in the manner of a jacket over the cutting face at such a small radial distance from the latter that the polymer melt is thereby chilled directly after leaving the cutting face and at the same time the cutters are cooled up to the cutting edges by the cooling water with the pellets being flung out radially.

  • Patent number: 5762975
Abstract: A die assembly fitted to the outlet of an extruder includes a die head for discharging thermoplastics melted in the extruder. The die head (7) is mounted longitudinally displaceably, transversely with respect to the polymer flow, in a rail guide of an intermediate plate (4) arranged between outlet of the extruder and die head (7) and can be removed from the intermediate plate (4) by longitudinal displacing. The die head (7) is supported on the intermediate plate (4) by sealing surfaces (8, 11), against which the die head (7) can be pressed by a screw coupling (10), the loosening of which makes possible the longitudinal displaceability of the die head (7).

  • Patent number: 5499870
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiscrew, continuous mixing machine for plasticizable compounds with two screws, which rotate in a housing and which penetrate the cylindrical part of the housing that envelops the screw concerned and exhibit feed and metering sections and inbetween at least one homogenizing section and a mixing section, whereby the feed and metering sections are formed by intermeshing conveying screws, which rotate in the same direction and are arranged in the mixing elements, which are opposite the homogenizing and mixing sections and whose edges travel past each other with little clearance while rotating, whereby to form a chamber extending above the mixing elements, the edges maintain a distance from the part of the housing enveloping said edges that is significantly greater than the clearance.

  • Patent number: 5267788
Abstract: Multi-screw, continuous mixing and kneading machine for plasticizable compounds with screws, which rotate in a housing and which penetrate the cylindrical housing section, enclosing the screw concerned, and exhibit feed and discharge zones and intermediate melting, mixing and kneading zones, where the feed and discharge zones are formed by intermeshing screws that rotate in the same direction, and kneading elements are disposed in the melting, mixing and kneading zones. The kneading elements comprise axially extended polygons, whose surfaces are approximately flat and whose edges travel by one another with small clearance relative to the envelopes of the respective other polygon so as not to intermesh while rotating, where the edges of the housing section enveloping them maintain a distance that is significantly greater than the clearance.
