  • Patent number: 5031302
Abstract: A filler pipe for a fuel tank of a motor vehicle includes at its cap end a cylindrical insert whereby an elastic sealing ring is arranged between an outer surface of the insert and an inner surface of the filler pipe made of plastic material. In order that a simple cost-favorable connection between the insert and the filler pipe is achieved combined with a good seal, the profiled sealing ring having an elongated cross-sectional shape is mounted on the insert under prestress. Furthermore, the insert and sealing ring are subjected to a common blow-molding operation.

  • Patent number: 4656807
Abstract: A decorative strip detachably secured at the support flange of a motor vehicle includes two essentially parallelly extending support sections of which one abuts at the bottom side of the support flange. Detent members are provided at a retaining clamp fastened at a flange bolt which engage form-lockingly and force-lockingly into one of several detent receiving elements of the support sections arranged one behind the other, whereby the apertures are preferably provided at the support section opposite the support flange. A decorative strip is created by this arrangement which with a secure fastening is adjustable relative to the body as well as adapted to be installed and disassembled in a simple manner.

  • Patent number: 4444333
Abstract: In the interior of a fuel tank, a device is provided for its ventilation, comprising ventilation pipes, which run in a transverse direction relative to the vehicle in which the tank is mounted, and whose intake ports are disposed adjacent to opposite, vertical boundary walls of the fuel tank. In order for the ventilation device to be simple to produce, have a low overall height and function good, the ventilation pipes have different diameters. A first ventilation pipe has forked pipe sections, one of which is surrounded by a second ventilation pipe of a larger diameter in such a way that their intake ports are provided at the free ends of the ventilation pipes that are disposed near opposite lateral boundary walls of the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 4300699
Abstract: A fuel tank for motor vehicles of the type having a filler neck, a fuel tank vent line and a receptacle for insertion of a pump nozzle connected therein is improved by constructing the receptacle so as to at least partially surround a pump nozzle inserted therein in close proximity thereto and by having the receptacle create a hollow space in conjunction with a wall of the filler neck that is closed on a side facing into the fuel tank but has openings on an opposite side communicating outwardly from the tank, the fuel tank vent line terminating in the hollow space. In accordance with the above concept, preferred embodiments of the invention enable air vented by the vent line to pass directly into the filler neck upstream of an outlet of the pump nozzle so that entrainment of fuel particles in air vented therefrom, including associated splattering thereof, is effectively precluded.

  • Patent number: 4050471
Abstract: A valving mechanism or closing apparatus for ventilation lines of fuel tanks in motor vehicles is provided which comprises a housing and closing elements contained in the housing, which closing elements are movable in accordance with the vehicle position. The closing elements are formed as movable members, one above the other, with the lower member being a mass body lying against a guide wall of the housing and being freely movable to a certain extent, while the upper element acts to close an exit opening of the housing, thereby closing the ventilation line. The lower mass body element may be conically configured to match the conically configured guide wall of the housing, or the mass body may be a ball shaped body which moves along the guide wall of the housing. The upper element may also be a floating body such that an overflow of gasoline into the housing causes the floating body to close the exit opening, thereby preventing discharge of fuel out of the ventilation line.
