Abstract: A tub-like member is recessed below floor surface level in a pit and carries therein an extendable and retractable lifting mechanism. The tub includes a horizontal outwardly extending flange essentially at floor surface level, and overlying the floor surface, which a loader/unloader may easily manipulate with foot pressure to rotate the tub and stacked articles on a pallet carried on the lifting mechanism within the tub-like member. Easily operable controls are provided for the loader/unloader to incrementally raise and lower the lifting mechanism to present the top article of a stack on a pallet at a comfortable lifting height. Also included is a new and improved mechanism for supporting a pallet for manual rotation and incrementally controlled vertical movement.
